I am really curious about something because I feel I maybe doing something wrong. I have relaxed hair and I wash and condition twice a week. I know alot of us on this site are trying to stray away from heat, but what I want to know is, what styles do you use to still look good when you do not flat iron and how do you maintain the moisture? I know for me, when I do not use heat in my hair, my hair tends to dry out even when I use moisturizers. (I've tried Mango Butter, Profectiv, Carrot Creme, etc.) When the weather begins to get warm I want to be able to get away from the heat but still wear a maintainable do. Any suggestions or comments?

P.S. I've tried braids but they don't work for me.

I think this may be due to long term damage. I had this problem and i nursed my hair back to good health (sorta) by changing my routine. no heat, clarifying with ACV rinses, deep conditioning after every wash, washing every 3 days moisturising daily (first i had to find the most suitable moisturiser- took me forever), doing CWC and washing and conditioning with moisturisng shampoos and conditioners. First, you ahve to search for the products that are best suited. I also used to relax with no-lye relaxers but ive changed to relaxing with lye and my hair has improved. Do you grease your scalp or use any kind of grease? if you do, you have to stop. Also look out for the ingredients in your products. Im a 3c/4a. i also started vitamins

I usually braid my hair in 6 braids at night and take them out in the morning. It gives me nice waves and I also use Elasta QP mango butter before putting in the braids to moisturize.

I haven't had damaged hair in about 2 years. I use heat, if any, once every other week. I condition before and after I shampoo and I wear protective styles now and then. I've ALWAYS watched what I put in my hair (as well as what I eat) and I take vitamins. I moisture everyday. I NEVER grease my scalp. I don't think that is the problem. Hmm. Maybe it's the cold weather right now. I'm not sure but i may try the night braids idea.

By the way, can you use s-curl to lightly mist on your hair when you wear the braid out style??

I've never used s-curl but I'm sure you could use it.
