blow-dry straight?

I dunno about the rest of y'all, but blow drying is weird on me...i've been trying straightening gels and stuff, and all say to blow dry the hair. Well for some screwed up reason, though my hair is straighter, it ends up around 2 inches shorter (in how much it covers my face and stuff)...i hate it...i like my hair the way it is when it's wet, it's weighed down/straighter and longer, and it's all shiny and healthy looking. What can I do to keep this? With the kind of style I'm aiming for, I need straight/wavy hair, but when it's blown dry, or I use a straightening iron, it either looks ugly and fuzzy, or girly (respectively). Is there anything I can do??? Please, any help will be appreciated.
