QuoteReplyTopic: extentions for prom Posted: March 21 2005 at 3:56pm
I am getting extensions glued in for prom and they only need to last about a week or so. What are some low priced human hair extentions that I could find? Does anyone know of a store that sells them in south floida? I tried sallys beauty supply but they didn't have my color with wefts. please help! Thanks so much!!

I want to order online but Im afriad of not getting the right color- I have a reddish color hair and ive found it to be hard to match. I'm looking for about 18 inches or so and I want human hair so that it can be curled. Any tips?? Thanks again
If Im getting my extensions glued in then I get hair with just regular wefts right? what is all of this hand tied and machine sewn stuff? Its so confusing!

machine tied wefts are long and and can be cut with having to worry
about unravelling toomuch (I reccomend using a touch of nail glue on
the edges anyhow)
hand tied wefts are shorter sections that you really shouldn't try to cut.
Either type can be glued in.
While I agree color matching can be difficult synth hair can be curled easily.
though with human you can try for the closest color match you can find
online and I'm pretty sure dying it if it isn't a perfect match
shouldn't be too big of a problem.
the thing with HH is that if you want at all good quality its pretty
expensive and you're only planning on wearing it a short time.
Try going to the salon you want to get the wefts installed in and see if they have hair available for purchase there.
If you're just doing this for an event, I would seriously urge you not
to glue anything into your hair unless you have a lot of experience
doing that. I'd opt for clip-in extensions or clip-in pieces, or have
some extensions braided in. :)
Edited to say: It also depends on the look you want to achieve. So it'd
be best if you could post some pics or direct us to some links that
look like your current hair and how you'd like it to look.
If you have any ethnic beauty supply stores in your area, or any wig
shops, try calling around and asking if they carry extension hair. You
may have even more luck going to a black or Hispanic part of town, as
more women in those communities wear extensions, so you're likely to
find extension hair there. And if not, they're likely to have a color
chart of some type where you can match your hair to a color number
(say, #30) and then go home and order the hair online.
Beauty-supply-store hair is usually not the best quality, but if it
only needs ot last a week, they're your best bet.
Glued-in wefts sounds like a good option. You're having this done at a salon, right?
All that I really want is some length and I kinda want it to look like Hallie Berry or Guisselle at the Oscars- just long and curly. I'm having my boyfriend's aunt do it for me because she is a hairstylist and has done it before. She suggested that it be sewn or glued and gluing is faster so I wanted to do that because I might be pressed for time. Are there synth. types of hair that can be curled? I thought they melted with heat. You girls are such a huge help!!

It is possible if you can find hair close to your color (but not
darker) to dye the hair with semi-permanent color. If #30 for
example is similar, but not quite red enough, find a red semi-permanent
to put over it. I would recommend getting the dye from a beauty
supply, like Sally's, because you'll have a much greater color
selection.
