Ok this my 10 cent worth of hair talk for guys. So I will make it short and simple.
1) Shampoos and conditioner
Product used to clean hair. Salon and boutique products are always better than drugstore brand coz they used high quality ingredients in them so they bring better results But if you are on a budget like me, drugstore shampoos are ok too. I would suggest you read the ingredients. Use ONLY shampoo with sodium laureth sulphate. They are gentler to hair then ammonium laureth/lauryl sulphate. If you are a lazy bum, just use baby shampoo. It’s the Gentle way to clean hair. You can’t really go wrong with conditioner coz they are designed to moisturize hair and keep it from tangling. So chose any brand that you like and that works with your hair. I have a tip from anaisatin from the long hair and asian hair forum about washing your hair. Try to apply conditioner or putting olive, jojoba or coconut oil on your hair before shampooing. Then apply conditioner after shampooing. This method is great for guys with porous hair caused by genetics ( asian hair, naturally dry ) or chemically treated hair. I used it and I like the way my hair felt afterward. Soft and not frizzy. Don’t do it if you have limp or oily hair. Wash you hair according to it greasiness level. Which means once a week during winter and up to 4 times a week in a hot humid summer.
2) Hair styling I
First and for most stick to hair style suitable for your hair texture. JUST STICK TO HAIRSTYLE SUITABLE FOR YOUR HAIR TEXTURE. THIS THE EASIEST WAY TO HAVE GREAT HAIR. You can fight mother nature but it will be a tough battle. Good luck to those who are willing enough to try.
Straight hair dudes can style they hair any way they want as long as it’s straight. Wavy hair guys could follow some of the straight hairstyle with some with some alteration. Curly hair guys can just keep it short and simple, or keep it medium length and just let if curl naturally. Love your curls or cut it off that is my advice.
Whatever you choose just remember most women loves to put their finger through a guys hair hair. It a one of a man sex appeals.
3) Hair styling II
I would save up money from shampoo and buy some high quality hair products. Its worth it coz it would be on your hair the whole day. Gels are for guys with short hair, or guys who likes to have shiny spikes. But some gels are drying coz they contain alcohol. Mousse is for guys with medium to long hair coz it allows movement and is soft to touch. Just think Tom Cruise is Last Samurai. The best stuff is these new age products. It can either be pomade like, fiber wax or hair gum. This is great stuff. It gives hair hold but keep its soft to touch. Great for any type of hair.
4)Styles of hair that should never be revived, at least till now
Mullet
Rats tail
Over gel, greasy, over styled hair
Side bald, crown 6 inches high
Comb over
5) Hair color
For easy maintenance just stick to shades that is within 3 level or your natural hair color. Do you want to go to a salon weekly to have your roots touch up. For people with light coloured hair such as browns, red or blondes you can use semi perm colors, which is gentle as can be wash out it like 4 weeks or something. For people with black or dark brown we have to stick to permanent colors. It’s the only dye that lightens it up to 3 levels. Some hair dye like Loreal High Lift or Bright Feria Shades can lighten it up to 6 levels. You can also try highlights which are great coz they add depth and texture to hair and maintenance is easier that of with fully dyed hair. Also most women prefer guys with dark hair shades coz guys look more mature with dark hair.
6)Hair tips (dandruff)
Vinegar is great for hair. It can be used as clarifying rinse to remove styling build up and to treat dandruff. Just mixed 1 part vinegar with 4 parts water. Apply to hair, massage lightly on scalp if you want to remove build up. For dandruff mixed 1 part water with 3 parts vinegar, and vigorously massage the scalp. Some people with really bad dandruff have to use their fingernail to remove the dandruff. I suggest using a comb brush coz its more hygienic. Mouthwash can be also used in the same concentration to remove dandruff
