QuoteReplyTopic: What are your hair-care routines? Posted: March 29 2005 at 8:11pm
Hi!
Just wondering if anybody had any special hair care routines (regular shampooing to special treatments) that you do and what are the products that you are using?
Thanks!

We wash Jennifer's hair about every 2-3 days. Days we don't wash
it, she may put it up in a bun or just let it down in the shower and I
wash the bangs and condition the length. We use Pantene or Long N
Strong usually. Since they have silicones in them, about every 2
weeks we'll use a cheap shampoo and really work up a good lather or use
a clarifying shampoo to clean out any deposits in her hair. Once
a week we use a deep fortifying or deep conditioning treatment.
Every 2 weeks or so, we try to either do a mayonaise or olive oil
treatment. About 3 or 4 nights a week, I'll finger several drops
of Jojoba oil in her hair. Every day we get her length wet, we
use Infusium on the length - focusing on the ends (this is great stuff
by the way). That's about it; it sounds like a lot, but we enjoy
it.
I wash my hair with 50/50 Avalon shampoo (no sulfates) with water every
other day. Then I condition with avalon conditioner (no cones or
sulfates, very lightweight).
I clarify once every 2 weeks with Avalon's clarifying shampoo (the
lemon verbena one is the clarifier), and condition as usual, but add
pantene afterwards. I put pantene on the last inch of my hair to
prevent tangles (the avalon would not prevent tangles on it's own, it's
too lightweight and just adds moisture). I don't want the pantene
on more than my last inch so I don't get cone damage, but at my current
length, one inch is all it needs to be tangle free. I've
discovered that I only need to use the pantene that one time, it puts
such a thick layer of cone on my hair that tangle free layer will last
until I clarify again 2 weeks later without another application (which
is why I said above that I usually only use the avalon). This was
not the case when my hair was bleached, it needed cones every day, but
now that it's natural a single application lasts a long time.

Yes, just olive oil, but we don't do it very often. It's fun and
helps her hair. We find the mayonaise does more to the softness
and look of her hair than anything else. We think one of the best
products for her ends is the Infusium. Jennifer does use a
curling iron (*gasp*) maybe once every one or two weeks and the ends to
get damaged. The Infusium seems to help it. Does anyone
else here use it and what do you think of it?

I ended up with severe rashes in March, due to the dry winter weather (it just hits me harder every year), so I have spent a few weeks just rinsing my hair in water, week after week, and treating the rashes with oil. And, to my surprise, it is rather fresh looking. I always thought I had to use something, but maybe it´s just as easy not to? I think I have a tendency to reach for complicated solutions rather than the easy ones. Or maybe it´s just this urge to buy something...

I currently wash about twice a week. I work conditioner in to my
hair from my ears to the ends and then whetever is leftover on my hands
I put up top. I wait about two minutes and then I rinse out my
hair really well. After that, I take about a dime size drop of
shampoo and mix it with a little water from my other hand and work it
through my roots. I rinse again.
About once a month, I do an olive oil or mayo treatment and wash it out
with some baking soda and water. I then rinse with watered down
apple cider vinegar or lemon juice.
