i've had this type of weave done..and love it!  i heard it's been done for cancer patients..i now have a full head of hair (shoulder length) and have had this type of weave done for a few years...when i first came to the beautician, i was half bald thanks to monkey barzz, great lengths, and gawd knows what else...i had a lot of hair loss due to a few newbies out there, who had good intentions, but wound up using me as a guinea pig...until i was a bald guinea pig.

i'm looking for a beautician more close to home..she braids my hair up, then places and sews a hairnet on top of the braids.then sews the wefts on in a criss cross fashion.  what is this called? i live in the bay area.

Wow. Sounds complicated! I've never heard of such a thing! If it has to do with braids, it more than likely can be found at a salon that does black women's hair. Those ladies know all there is to know about braiding. Most likely someone on this board knows what this is called, too.

have most definitely have heard of that and even tried it on one of my clients.  The name that I know it by is called 'net weaving'.  It's just another way to do a full cap weave, but you only do one circular cornrow around the head by the hairline and that gives you a base on which to sew the net.

A man named Clem Lue Yat teaches it and he has a salon in New York where they perform this service.

I'm by no means any type of expert, but I did have previous experience getting that method done by my black friend some years back. without the hairnet. I do recall it just being called a sewn weft but I could be mistaken.

As far as CA patients getting this done, it could be possible after they have stopped their chemo treatments. Chemo does cause total baldness (only temporary)

I did get bald spots from weaves sewn in, so you never know. What's good for one person isn't always good for another! What bay area are you talking about?
