QuoteReplyTopic: how do I keep the curls w/o the frizz Posted: April 20 2005 at 12:19am
I just trimmed my hair...actually cut it (with help). It's not too short, but the damaged and broken areas are no more...so now I am ready to start using all of my hair products. I bought Motions CPR line (shampoo, conditioner, and reconstructor). Since I am no longer going to use the blow dryer or the flat iron, I want to go for a more natural style. I know I might have said what my hair iIs like-- mixed...when it's wet it gets a loose curl/wave but as soon as it starts getting dry...POOF!! It frizzes like crazy.(When I say frizz I mean like Diana Ross...seriously). I want to know if it's even possible to get that curl/wave without the frizz? I've been wearing my hair straight for years just because I did not know how to wear it any other way and I was wondering if I could get this style without the use of heat (with the exception of light-medium heat of a hood dryer). I seriously do not want to use that flat iron on my hair anymore as well as that dreadful blow dryer. Does anyone have advice on how I can keep my loose curls without all the crazy hair frizz??

Try using a light moisturizer or oil when your hair is wet.
My hair is curly, but it's like big ringlets and it blowdries easily.
But if I don't use the right products the curls just drop and I end up
with a mass of frizz. I use Kerastase Elasto Curl Defining Cream and a
little bit of gel. I mix it and scrunch it into my curls when their
damp. But I ALWAYS have to scrunch in more when its dry. I personally
think that that works better (for me atleast) than putting in frizz
ease products when its wet. I like Redken's Lush Whip alot for
scrunching into dry hair. And I like using creams because they are a
little heavier and leave the curls soft and bouncy and not crunchy like
a mousse does.

I think we must have very similar hair. My hair will get Diana Ross like in a heartbeat. What I do is wash and condition real well. I use creme of nature or Dove right now, then I use Pantene's smoothing comb in treatment under the smooth start line. It works so great, sometimes too great. I'll also use some Ausse gel or Africa's Best leave in hair mayonaise. I'm with you on the flat ironing. I'm trying to give that a rest for a while but I still love my hair straight also. Hope this helps. Any questions just holla!

When your hair is still wet after washing it... part it as if you are going to cornrow it back and apply gel then take 2 pieces of hair and cinnamon twist it all the way back. Do this to your whole head and when your finished it should look kind of like you have cornrow (but twisted instead) straight back. Put a scarf on and go to sleep or put a dryer to it. When it is completly dry then take the twist out and it will stay curly and unfrizzed for days!!!
Try it and see.............
My interior will sustain whatever my exterior may bring!!!

That's a good idea. I've seen this done in a hair magazine and it came out so pretty. I'm gonna try it.

It really does work. My best friend and my 2 cousins all have hair within the type 3b-4a hair range and I am constantly called upon to twist their hair for them. They really have trouble wearing their hair out without it getting bushed or frizzed if I don't twist it ahead of time.
And their curls come out so pretty......

I understand. I get a frizz ball in a heart beat. I just 'hate' it! I've spent soooo much money on products, I don't know what will really work for me. Whatever works for one person, I need 'triple strength'.
