Hi,

After 2 recent births I am left with some pregnancy mask, broken blood vessels...has anyone tried IPL? It is supposed to get rid of the freckling and capalaries. Even out skin tone...if you have tried it did you look like hambuger after? Raw and red? Did it get rid of your spots? Thanks

Missy

I have had IPL to try and get rid of general facial redness. My skin isn't terrible, but it has an uneven tone, and I have broken capillaries around my nose. I say have, and not had because the IPL was next to useless for those on me. It has toned down (but not got rid of) the uneven tone on my cheeks, but it did nothing at all for my nose or the capillaries around it. I had at least 10 treatments, and we went as high as my face could stand without too much whelting.

I am going to look into alternatives because I'm very disappointed with the results... and needless to say, irritated that I spent so much and didn't get the results I wanted.

They did say that I may just have unusually resiliant skin, and that if I stuck at it, eventually I would see results... but when most people are done with their treatments after 5 sessions, and at $400 a pop, I just can't justify sticking with it any longer than the 10 or so sessions I've had.

I'd be interested to hear other peoples experiences too. Perhaps I just went to someone who wasn't doing it right?

I've had IPL for Rosacea. It helped that. For uneven skin there's something called the V-beam which works wonders. Usually takes 5+ treatments. It stings so you have to use a numbing cream beforehand but your face isn't hamburger. My mom had laser resurfacing and had a horrible experience. I'd never recommend that. I took her to my plastic surgeon because the resurfacing left her with brown blotches. The plastic surgeon is bleaching her skin alternating with chemical peels. I saw a huge difference after her very first bleaching.

Hey! I've been looking for something for my Rosacea for awhile now. I'm not red all the time, just when it's hot out I get pretty red around my nose and somtimes flushes to the rest of my face. Drinking doesn't help, but I do that on average. I know a lot of people out there have it worse, but when I flare up I get so self consious, it's hard for my bf to even get me out of the car to go into Walmart. Any more info on your experience with this "IPL" would be great... I'm going to look up more info about too...

I don't know if it is the same, but a friend of mine tried IPL for hair removal and it didn't work. I am using a 'real' laser and am having better results. Maybe a different practitioner or a different type of laser would work better for your skin.

i have had laser genesis a package of 7 treatments for about $1,000 which is the yag laser. It helped with redness, and lines and acne scars and she can switch the setting on the laser and get rid of broken capillaries. . She did some on my nose and cheek area. I got one blister which left a tiny scar barely noticble from the laser treating the capillaries. she has to zap the capillaries which is like a quick snapping pain . When she treats the face for redness though its like a pleasant warm sensation when she runs the wand above areas on your face.  There was no redness or downtime afterwards You can read about it more. Here is the link about it at the spa where I got it done.
