I came across this website. www.hairextensiontools.com  I emailed them, asking about if their crimping tool was a 'double crimp' tool or a single crimp tool.

Here's their reply:

Thank you for your interest in our products.  The tools that we feature are designed for a different methodology similar to that of many of the cold systems.  During our research we have found that by folding the shell it causes unnecessary damage to the shell.  By creasing it, the malleable copper is subject to fatigue weakening the shell and sometimes chipping off the paint, also making the shell unable to be re-used.  Multiple crimping planes also make it timelier to install and remove. During the removal, standard removal tools caused damage to the hair due to excessive pressure from the pick-like teeth of the tool.

For our recommended methodology, we have found that by flattening the shell, there is sufficient surface area to maintain a secure connection between the source hair and the hair extension.  Our tools are designed to accommodate this approach. The set of tools that is featured in our Salon Kit is a basic set, even if you already have a set of tools these are great to have an extra set in the Salon.  We have a new all-in-one installer/remover tool in production that will allow damage free installation and removal with a unique delivery.  Along with the kit, there is also valuable Marketing information with client agreement and brochure templates on a CD.

Anyone that purchases a Salon Kit will be eligible to purchase our new All-in-one tool at a discounted rate.  We are a company that wants to provide quality products at a rate that will allow you a better profit.  It has come to our attention that while the cold system has become the preferred system, the supply costs were too expensive.  We will be supplying quality products at prices that will allow the professional greater profitability.

We are a company that is interested in your feedback to improve our products. In an effort to provide you with the best supplies, we welcome suggestions you may have or if you have any questions, please contact us.

Yet, they are selling this "pick-like" tool that is similar if not exactly
like the Hairlocs removal tool. The Dinkie Links are exactly like
Hairlocs shells as well but they're saying they're not copper. Anyone
test these yet?

i have tried these links-

they are much wider and thinner then hairlocs or eurolocs or hairpiece links.

they close very flat, however they have a tendency to slip out of hair if hair clients hair is too thin and fine.

they do work very well with thicker strands of pre tips- HH or synth

and also will hold the MB perma plugs very well.

Update:

I have the Dinkie Links in my possession. They sure look exactly like Hairlocs and the company told me they are definitely made of copper. They'd turn your hair green underneath then, right?

Thumbs up for very friendly communication by the people who run the site.

(edit for hideous spelling)

Goodness, are you allowed to throw other companies' names into your meta tag like that? Well, I suppose it isn't disallowed or anything...I bet I could steal a few GLs customers by doing that with my page, though I don't think I'd feel right doing it.

actually i have tried them and have not seen any green in anyones hair. also i think hairlocs ones they sort of changed- they are not making ANY hair green anymore- the blondes hair clients were the ones i saw this in most, i read somewhere that if they do a vinigar rinse on the copper locs, they dont turn green. Sorta chemically balances them out.

the dink links are a bit thinner and wider, they do stay in good though but not as good as hairlocs shells and the Protubes by hairpiece.

so far the protubes price is better

i was wondering if anyone has tried installing a weft with the lin method?  it seems fast but does it stay?   now hairextensiontools.com has the smaller size links 2.5mm X 6.8  they are cheaper than anywhere else and they are pretty informational
