Hi, I'm new here. I am planning on getting extensions and braids put in my hair. My problem is I have never had anything like this done to my hair. And I am worried if it will be bad for it.. my hair that is. It is extremely fine and thin, (think a baby's hair). So it is lovely and soft, but I want to try something different, maybe blue, purple or red extensions in my hair (its brown.) So if anyone knows whether or not it is a bad idea to put extensions in fine hair please help!.
It really depends. A lot of us here have fine hair, which presents some
special challenges. I wouldn't recommend fusion, that's for sure, but I
think some other methods--pinchbraids, heat-seals, extendtubes, and
shrinkies--should be fine if they're properly applied and cared for. If
you're just looking for a temporary change and are worried about
damage, though, you might want to try clip-ins first. :)
Nah, it's no problem as long as your stylist/you pay attention to how
much weight is on the hair. Use bigger sections of scalp for each
extension, so that the same amount of extension hair is supported by
more hair. Pay attention to how it feels- if, when you pull on a braid,
it feels stingy or sharp, it's probably on too little hair. Obviously
having your hair pulled hurts, but if there's too little hair in the
seciton, you'll be able to feel it.
And yeah, fusion can be very rough on fine hair. I wouldn't recommend it for you.
