Blow Drying

 

1) Leave-In Conditioner Bumble & Bumble (no cones), Straight by B & B (cones), sometimes I use Fudge reconstructor spray-in as well.

2) I do not use Thermasilk, generally avoid drugstore/cheaper products because I used them in high school and they left build-up/ dried out my hair.

3) Used to blow-dry every time I washed (which was 3 to 4 times a week) now I rarely blow-dry because I let my naturally wavy/curly hair air dry on my commute in to work. When I do blowdry it is with an ion blowdryer and always on the low settings. Takes forever but the air never feels hot (it is barely warm) and I feel this must be less damaging.

I never used to use one-- I would let it air dry, and if I was in a rush I would sit by a fan :-P .  But I saw a report on television that said ion blowdryers weren't as bad for hair, and it was getting closer to winter at the time, so I bought one.  It's not so bad, except on some days I think I overdo it a little, and end up with puffy Conan O'Brien hair :-P .  I guess I'm still getting the hang of it.

1) Sometimes I'll mousse my hair when I blow-dry it, but that's not even all the time.  Sometimes I'll just use a little gel or something to stick down any parts that are poking out too much, maybe use a little hairspray, but I have no real routine.  The brands I use are just whatever I can afford that won't flatten my hair or make it greasy, really.

2) Never tried Thermasilk, because I knew someone who used it once, and her hair was definitely not silky.  Then again, she was a constant victim of bad home perms, which may explain a lot. . .

3) The role of blowdrying in my life. . . well. . . it's faster than air drying and less pathetic than sitting by fans, that's pretty much it.  *shrugs*  I wouldn't like die if I couldn't do it or anything.  I can really take it or leave it.

I'm busting to ask AnaisSatin if you don't use shampoo, how do you get rid of buildup from styling products?  Even conditioners can have film formers which cause buildup.  I'm curious, your hair is gorgeous!

1)  Tresemme European Deep Cleaning Shampoo.  Neutrogena triple moisture daily deep conditioner.  After my shower, Neutrogena triple moisture silk touch leave-in cream. These are heavy conditioners for dry hair with medium to coarse texture.

2)  I used to use Thermasilk light leave-in detangling spray, which was a little light for my hair texture.  All the Thermasilk conditioners and styling products are very good!  But, not their shampoos because they contain TEA-dodecylbenzene-sulfonate, which is drying and irritating to the scalp.

3)  I let my hair air dry.

 

I blow dry my hair just a couple of times a month, but I find that Kerastase Oleo-Relax serum and Garnier Fructis products seem to really help hair breakage.  I've noticed since stopping the blow drying though, my hair has shown a lot of improvement (it didn't grow past my shoulders for the longest time until the last year).
