Just got back from Los Angeles. I went to Extensions Plus in Reseda (extensions-plus.com). I will tell you all about that in a moment. Saving the best for last, as it were.
I also went to His & Her and Hairpiece. What a letdown those two places were.
His & Her has their extension hair hung up in a glass case and it looks like its been there for years. It's all dull and lifeless and you window pick what you want and then they bring it to the counter for you. There is zero walking around and if you're a tactile person like me, it's unbearable to have all that hair on the premises and not be able to touch it. The place is big behind the counter and FULL of computers and people behind them with headsets. There's not enough people to help the walk-in traffic the place had even at 6pm last night.
I got to play with the Ring-X and Tube-X hair extensions and I was totally unimpressed. The hair strands you get with it is their lower to middle of the line hair and the strands were very thin. You pull your hair strand through, raise the ring and then clamp shut with pliers. Big whoop.
Onto Hairpiece which is right down the street. I came in through the back alley entrance cuz of parking issues and the Asian owners and workers were pouring out the back of the store counting money. ALL of them had big wads of cash in their hands and it was unreal to see this. It was an unusual first impression and they're lucky I had no intention of robbing them because they were ripe for the pluckin.
The store is big and you're able to walk around. Their wigs are on display to touch and feel but all the hair you find online is hung up and behind their counter. You have to ask to see it and after asking for about 5 bags at various times, they became impatient and switched from English to Asian. They were probably telling each other what a major pain in the ass the blonde was. Lots and lots of funky colors pretipped in nail and stick. I didn't need any but that's probably the only thing I'd buy in there. Oh, I did get one strand of these cascading rhinestone things that go in the hair and I got to play with some protubes they had out. They're like extentubes but a bit longer and thinner. So not worth $40 for 250.
