QuoteReplyTopic: wavy hair - poker straight ends Posted: May 12 2005 at 2:50am
Hi there.....
i am wondering if anyone has any advice -
i have moderate to thick blonde hair which is naturally wavy - (not curly). Just very soft waves when i let it air dry. My hair is very long - to about the middle of my back - im always told by stylists i have "a lot of hair". I usually flat iron it because the waves are subtle and i generally like the straight look - recently i was looking at the model Giselle's hair and i love it..loose healthy looking soft waves.. with bouncy looking ends....it sorta looks the way mine does - my problem is that no matter what i do, my ends are POKER straight and very blunt. I have wave around my face and through the length but even if i scrunch the ends with my blowdryer on low they really never look good. What can i do? Does the Cut have anything to do with it? Is it the texture? I can tell you this, when i blow my hair dry, before i flat iron it it looks like cotton candy - lol..... the names scarecrow and wild woman come to mind... lol.....i could never blow my hair dry and not heavily smooth it with a round brush or use a flat iron.... i'm so jealous of those women who can just leave it a little damp and have it looking fantastic.
Have you tried not blow drying it, and only using a wide toothed comb
when its wet, then not brushing it again after its dry?
Since it is long, is it possible the ends are getting flattened under
you when you sleep? If your hair is naturally wavy it should only
get wavier near the ends. I suspect something is straightening it
for you.

yes i have - the ends still stay straight - ive never used a chemical straightener either. When i wash it and let it air dry, it comes out looking nice except for the ends. i have no clue as to why.....
Unusual! Well, if you wanted the wavy all over look, you could
always braid the ends damp, then put a curler on the end. Or
there's always curling irons and setting lotions (but those are less
healthy for the hair if you like to keep it long).
