Syren- are you brushing quite a lot, or very roughly? The synth can often snap off if you yank too hard on it.

Also, yep, losing a small amount of braids is fine. It doesn't always happen- just some braids are not quite as tight and perfect as the others, or have a bit more hair in them, or whatever. My last two HH pinchbraids installs lost 6 braids and 3, respectively, and 3 or 6 out of 100+ is not even noticeable. Never had anyone mention shedding, though. What products are you using to aid in brushing? Your braids -are- really small, right? (I can't recall if you posted photos of your scalp.)

Hm. I do brush but not overly roughly - I mean, I start at that bottom and work my way up and try to be somewhat gentle. The shed hair is the same length as the length of my hair, so it must be breaking off like you said. But also, if I pull on the ends of my hair, hair just pulls right out - I mean, it's shedding! Also, I lost another braid today for a total of 4. It's been one week since it was put in.

The braids are not particularly small, not small like Boogiemama's. Some braids do have big strands, mostly on the bottom, and the ones at and near the top are medium sized.

I'm just going with whatever is going on. As I said, this is my first time with PBs and PH. I already have a list of things I'm going to change on my next install, so meanwhile, I'm just letting this one do as it will. That way, I have a better idea of what to do and what to expect next time.

Well, you should be using -some- products to help with brushing- just like human hair needs a conditioner, synth does too. I understand that you probably want to put the hair through its paces, but brushing it without any of the recommended products means that it is almost -certain- that it will underperform.

Also...did Serina give you any care recs for synth hair, or are there any on her site? Because god forbid anything goes wrong- but if it does, and you haven't followed her care instructions, then you're legally not allowed to say anything against her installation, because you didn't follow proper care procedures. Kinda like if you didn't get your car's oil changed, ever, and then the car died- you couldn't sue the car company, because you didn't take care of the car like they told you to in the manual.

So you think it's actually snapping off? Wow. The synth seems pretty sturdy to me in that regard. Are they doubled over, Syren? Or just overlapped 1 1/2 inches or so? Have you washed it yet?

I like Dome Care the most for brushing, but that Flasher spray is good too. One thing I have noticed is that the PH is a bit tangly before you wash it, but less so afterward.

What other things do you want to tweak, Syren?

:)

Well, according to Serina, shedding is normal. The hair is doubled over - that's why it's soooo thick. I've been alternating Dome Care and Flasher spray both, and I put in some Biosilk every other day or so on the ends. I've completely washed it once and am going to wash it again tonight.

So far I've lost 6 braids. As I have said before, my hair is very fine and slick, so i'm not surprised some have slipped out. I'm not too worried about it, actually.

What I want to tweak is first the color - not so overall dark next time. Way more colors. Next, not so much hair. It's just too much! I like it really long, but not so thick it takes two hands to go around it. Not so much hair, and more layering. Also, I'd like the braids themselves to be smaller - more like the pictures Sara posted of what she did on her friend, and Boogiemama's. Tiny. And I'll pay for that.

Overall, I'm pretty happy, but I'm never completely happy with anything so that's normal. It's true what someone said a while back - synth never feels like hh but it looks better. I agree with that.

Thanks everyone for your concern! Hey. I'm just glad I'm able to be in the game.
