my hairline started to recede in grade 7. a few years later i started washing my hair daily and the recession stopped. i started washing my hair every day b/c my hair is that oily. ive heard that your hair oilyness will adjust to how often you wash your hair. i dont know about that...
anyway, i believe as a result of me washing my hair every day, the hair in my bangs is very thin compared to the rest of my hair. this causes it to be frizzy. it has no body i guess. when i run my fingers along it the hair squeaks, where my normal hair doesnt. it doesnt matter what shampoo i use. i shampoo once. the frizzyness has been around for a few years, but not since i started washing my hair daily.
any diagnoses?

If your genetics are telling your hairline to recede, that may the cause of the thin bangs and changes in the texture of the hair.  As far as the oilyness, diluting your shampoo may help if you do want to wash it less.  Most shampoo is very concentrated and this dries the scalp out, so diluting it 50/50 or more with water will help it to not overdry your scalp when you wash it.  This may help you go to every other day washings if you choose, and is better for your scalp even if you do still wash every day.  (You may want to get a small bottle and mix a little at a time so the dilute stuff doesn't sit around and age).

One reason washing it everyday may have helped with the thinning is because the act of washing your hair probably causes you to massage your scalp, and the extra blood flow this causes to the scalp is good for your follicles. (I've also heard something about lanolin production in the scalp being stimulated by massage, but I don't know much about that). So, you can probably wash it less if you wanted, but you may want to continue to give your scalp a massage every day.
