DetroitBalla use pomade to help make your hair lay down. The pomade is important. Gel is not strong enough to hold it down. If you use pomade and a good method like the 360 Vets Methods you will have good results.  Read carefully and follow the Kings method. it took me a long time to go from straight hair to spinnin. but of course i had straight so it may take less time if ya hair iz curly already
