I have type 3c hair and I am trying to cut back on the amount of heat I use now.  I would like to stick with wearing my hair curly, as opposed to straightening it with my maxiglide (evn though it is wonderful and uses steam). Curls are quick for the summer.  What products does everyone with this type of hair use (non-relaxed)? Mine is kind of wierd because the front top part is very frizzy without tight curling, but the sides and the rest of the hair is fine and curly...isn't that crazy?  What are some personal favorites?  Anyone use any of Ouidad products or Bumble &  Bumble?

Well i do Co Washes- i'm so confused with this hair typing thing so either i'm a 3c or a 4a- but i have a definite s-chaped curl pattern and some areas on my head are looser than others. I do daily co washes, moisturize at nite and put a plastic cap on my head.  I shampoo/deep condition weekly- i like using cholesterol as my deep conditioner and i sit under a hooded dryer for 30-45 mins. I also use leave-in conditioner after shampooing-Beyond the Zone protein c.o.c.k.t.a.i.l.(can be purchased at Sally's). I like using dominican conditioners which i get at www.sickbay.biz    I love mowrah butter as a moisturizer- i got this at www.camdengrey.com   and i got a gal of concentrated shampoo, a gal of vitamin fortified concentrated conditioner and a gal of castor oil from www.thechemistrystore.com    I love hair butters so i have sunflower butter, mowrah butter, shea butter and shealoe butter. Also if you find that shampooing is drying to your hair you can condition first, then shampoo, then condition or you can add castor oil to you shampoo just before you apply it to your head. HTH. If you have any other questions, Please just let me know. BTW- You may also wanna try doing a straw set or roller set.

Thanks for the info! Girl, I definitely don't have the time or patience for a straw set!  IT would take FOREVER on this head of hair. I think I might get some of the Quidad products since they have a money back guarantee.

I have type 3b hair that I currently wear curly for the sumer.  It is very challenging to do curly hair but I'm getting better thanks to some great products.  The best thing I've found so far that keeps my curls defined, soft and frizz free is pantene smoothing comb-in treatment under the smooth start line.  It's great!  Just comb through after you shampoo.  And I also use Paul Mitchell, super sculpt.  Both work great for me.  As far as shampoo, creme of nature is the best for natural hair and conditioner I would have to say the pantene line for women of color.
