Hello there.

I“m going to do a friends hair, as soon as my PasticHaar arrives , but I haven“t ordered any sewing-thread.
Could I use cutton or nylonthread from any store, or do I net specific extension thread?

Thank you. I have allready spend hours reading all of your great advise .

I have posted my introductions with pics if you want to se some of my old extensions.

I use Nylon and think it holds up the best.  You can buy it at an upholstry shop or even at Jo Ann's, or order from Hairpolice.com.  The thread should not be too thin or it's a bear to work with.  And I'd use the method Rae recommends in her tutorial on pinchbraids. Have fun!!

I prefer a thicker cotten thread over nylon, the cotten shrinks over time with washing and drying your hair, helping to result in a tighter, sturdier braid.

I don't have a particular fiber I prefer, just 'cause I haven't paid attention it. Kalika's right, cotton thread does shrink- so that might be a benefit. The important thing is that the thread be thick yet not stiff. I usually use weaving thread from the hair store, but you can also use upholstery thread (thick thread used for sewing furniture) or extra-strength sewing thread.

I wouldn't recommend regular sewing thread becaise it seems a little too thin and maybe weak, and it also would be a pain to pick out of the hair when you do the wrap- that step is easiest with thick thread.

I'm wondering if cotton would be strong enough and how it dries (staying wet, getting weak, having odor, for example)  Because shrinking would be a very good thing for pinchbraids.

I think I will by some thread from a hairextension shop first, and then se if we have anything like this maybe, in the stores.
