took out my hair extensions yesterday, took me freaken forever.  problem.. lot of hair loss, not with the method really itself i did have a little hair attached to the shrinkie when removed incorrectly but my problem seems to be with knotting. my hair gets easily knotted and with the extensions in it was really hard to comb through it all to get to my hair.  its not even my hair knotting up with the extension its my hair knotting up with itself.  my hair thinned out a lot, not really noticably, a little bit but with a inch or two off nobody will be able to tell.  any suggestions on how to help this problem?  would having a shorter haircut help with the longer hair getting tangled into knots?  thanks for all help!

I have the same problem. As my hair grows longer underneath, it's more common. It's happened with locs and shrinkies as well. I can only attribute it to the fact I don't use conditioner on my real hair like I used to. I know when I would wash my hair and not use conditioner, my real hair was completely unmanageable. Now, I only lightly pat on top and do the pony end of the extensions so my real hair is not being conditioned. Maybe the same is happening to you?

I've often thought of just cutting my hair above the shoulders to get rid of the problem altogether. I know I'll wear extensions for many years to come because my real hair is thin and was thin before extensions.

I hate the look and feel of my real hair underneath because it does exactly what yours is. I said the other day to someone that I wish PH would grow right out of my head.

What about getting a looper brush? They make it very easy to brush right over your extension roots without catching any bristles, and still keeping your roots from matting. You can get them at Sally's or frpm kristin at haircandy.net .

yah it sounds like we have the same problem amm... =\

mocha, most of the knotting was at the ends of my natural hair although i did have some at my roots and i do have a looper brush rae i probably wasnt using it as much as i shouldve because i was using rollers a lot and didnt want to lose the curl but unless i want no hair i better start using it religiously lol
