I saw a great method at the IBS New York show. It is called Visions by Raphael Basante Hair Systems. They invented extensions that are on a poly base and you pull the natural hair thru. It looks like it less damaging then other methods.

Thier website is www.raphaelbasante.com The hair is on a poly base and in the center are holes for pulling hair thru. You use a doubled faced tape on the top and bottom of the poly. The hair is sandwiched in the middle. They las 4-6 weeks and are reuseable.
I wore this kind of hair extension a few years ago. At that time, it was called Ultratress 1, and the hairpiece company Gemtress was the distributor.
If you only use the tape to apply it, it will not stay in your hair for even 4-6 weeks. When I wore them, I used the tape but also a brush on adhesive, and actually, even extra tape for more security. I was able to wear them for 12 weeks without a problem, no slipping or anything.
I put this method on 3 different clients, using my technique of extra tape and adhesive, an it stayed in very well.
The only bad thing about this method is that it is very time consuming to apply. You have to pull the client's hair through the holes with a crochet hook, and that actually hurt my clients as I did it, and I am very gentle!
Also, I didn't feel that each weft piece was thick enough, so to get a decent density, I had to apply several rows of them, hence more application time.
Apparently this product wasn't a big seller for Gemtress, because they discontinued it.
I do have the video tape that Raphael made demonstrating how to apply this, and even in the tape he uses a brush on adhesive.
Overall it's a good method, but too time consuming.
Ultrtress 1 was not made the same as raphael's. At the hair show they spoke about why the product has changed. They said that they made the holes smaller and that this gave it more staying power. they also announced that the each row of hair has 40 -50 % more hair.
the way I understand it is, gemtress had a license agreement with Raphael Basante and it was not renewed because of the difference in the two companies' products.
They did a full head of extensions in 1 1/2 hours at the show, so I don't think that is a long time to apply.
They did not use any liquid adhesive at the show and don't promote using it.
I spoke to a hairstylist there that told me she has had great succes with the system, her client's were getting about 5 weeks wear. You might want to look at what Raphael is offering and not what some other company that didn't invent it.
They did a removal at the show. they use a small plastic syringe with solvent in it. the tip fit in between the polys and they opened easy. when he removed the hair the girl's hair had a little oily feel. The oil is just washed out with clarifying shampoo.
I am not sure of the cost of classes but the number to the company is 888-293-8451
