Hi, I am new to the board, and I LOVE IT!!!   But...... Now I am so confused.  I was all set to do fusion strand by strand extensions, and now I am thinking that I should do shrinkies.  What extactly are shrinkies, and why are they better?  I always thought that they were also a type of "glue", just in a tube.  I am planning on pretipping my own extensions and was going to use the Keratin glue to do that, but.........should I use something else?  I read that some people are useing Alene's glue and then nail glue, and others are just useing a high temp hot glue used for crafts.  I am so confused, but I know with all the knowledgeable people out there, you will help me out.

Thanks!!!

Ok, I just read my post and I do know what shrinkies are, I just don't know what they are made of, and why they are better than Keratin glue.

Thanks!!

gsmilie... The shrinkies are a heat shrinkable tubing, with a very light lining of adhesive. When you use the heat they shrink down real small around your hair and the preglued tip. Keratin or any glue put into the hair 'can' be very damaging, difficult and time consuming to apply and remove. The shrinkies go in easy, come out easy. With a very minimum amount of glue/adhesive left in the hair, which is a breeze to remove compared to fusion. Also shrinkies is so easy to learn for a beginner. Fusion takes alot of practice to get it right, unless you use the preglued (fingernail shaped) strands and a heat wand.

Whatever you use to pretip whether it be keratin or Aleenes. I would also put a top coating of nail glue or Liquid Gold. It seems to keep the tips together and possible helps to prevent the glued pretip from adhering to your hair 'to some degree'.
