I have had my hair highlighted for over a year now. Gets expensive!!!! Anyway I just dyed my hair back light brown today and it looks dark brown!! I know in about a week it will fade, but i hate the dark look on me. I used the revlon high demension 10 minutes color. I just bought the color accent kit in honey to rehighlight my hair my self. Any advice I ALWAYS SCREW my hair up when I do it myself.

leave it alone.It really will fade.A good clarifying shampoo will help it fade faster.You dont want to have to go back and get it fixed at the salon do you?
I agree. Using stuff like that where you don't know whats in it
is risky. It would be better to either wait, try to fade
some of the color, or go to the salon.

I used to do my hair at home. It's always better to go to salon. So many things can happen when you do it at home.
If it's too expensive, look into cosmetology schools. The price is often much cheaper than regular salons and the students are supervised by qualified stylists.

OK, I guess I'm the only one on this thread that likes DIY highlighting kits. They are so great these days, it's easy to do it yourself. Start with a few highlights framing the face. Mix only 1/4 of the mixture, so you'll have more if you want to put in more highlights. Don't forget a strand test. You can't go wrong if you do a strand test first. The instructions for strand tests are in the box.

For your situation, the problem with home highlighting kits is that they're intended for virgin hair. They won't remove dye you put in there. So you need to wait for it to fade a bit, and then use Colorfix to remove dye that is left in the areas you want the highlights. Since your hair is previously colortreated, it will probably not respond to the kit as the directions say, so you'll have to do strand tests on each step.
Just looking for a few good hair slaves - is that too much to ask?
