I am furious now...
I had no idea..that others out there shared the same experience with her and her hairlocs.wow! how upsetting. Yes, it was always done under the guise of sweetness and friendship.
I literally spent thousands with her, even after I let her use all my photos (I am a recognized personality) when many times it wasn't even her work. Yes, of course she still charged me, & the darned things damaged my hair to the max and fell out.
Glad to have this board !
I was scrolling down for over an hour now and cannot believe the horror stories. I am so sorry and feel partially guilty, as I was one of the people whose pictures were flashed everywhere.
I believe that what you give out in life comes back to you ten fold, eventually. So, even though I have less hair and lighter pockets, I am going to be much more cautious next time.
yep...just weaving..but the gal who did it mainly does African American hair and the braids are very thick...so am free of anything right now...sewed some clips on the wefts and use them when I have to look good..lol
But want a safe method that will use the wefts or indiv clusters I already have ..have all this hair now and don't know what to do..Any suggestions???
Sorry to hear you had such a bad experience with Hairlocs, too.
After my hairlocs disaster, I switched to Cinderella and then to Great Lengths, which were also fairly disasterous. I was pretty much ready to throw in the towel, and then I found pinchbraids (at a fraction of the price of those other methods). It's the only method I've tried that is helping my hair to grow, rather than breaking it all off, and they don't slip out or shed (which the hairlocs did constantly). What's more, I get a full install for $350 (that's the service) + $55 (that's for synth hair), or for good-quality HH, $300. I couldn't be happier.
Good luck in finding a better solution (and believe me, you will).
I can't remember the link exactly. Do a google search for Hairpolice affiliates, that will take you to a page that lets you search by zip code. I did the search then added the affiliate search page to my favorites. I know it's connected to their website www.hairpolice.com but I'm not sure where exactly.
I think both are good methods. The advantage of shrinkies is that you
can do them DIY, whereas pinchbraids are a lot trickier DIY, although
it is possible to learn them. Also, pinchbraids don't have any glue or
heat, while shrinkies do have some, so it's really a matter of
preference.

I highly recommed her. She's done my hair countlesss times and I've worked with her on the HairPolice tours and also in the old West Hollywood HairPolice salon. She's been doing pinchbraids for around 12 years. She's awesome! :)
