Cut length/Clip sizes please help me out

I dont understand how some clip sizes work. Some clippers got 1/2,    1\4, 3/8 sizes and others have 2's, 1's,etc. So which is the shortest? Cause to me it seems like the 1/4 clip on one machine, is the same length, as the 1 or 1 1/2 clip on another.

I think it varies from brand to brand. I use ANDIS clippers and ANDIS trimmers and the attachments sizes are:
#1=1/16
#2=1/8
#3=1/4
#4=1/2
#5=1 inch

wats the shortest of those clips u can use and still have ur waves ?Considerin theyre already deep.

I usually use the 1/4 length

yea i use to always get mine against the grain and da waves will be str8 4 about 3 days then they would dissapear. i was so pissed
It aint me, its my jewlery thats pissed off

I use 1/4 or 1/2 depending on how my hair is responding to brushing and weather (Texas heat ). I don't like it any longer.

Look to the skies and keep your eyes on the prize! I been through Hell but, STILL I RISE!
