QuoteReplyTopic: I need help! I just want lighter Roots! Posted: June 18 2005 at 1:20pm
Can I get Jessica Simpson's color in this picture, without using a
heavy bleach? Is there a hair dye product on the market like Loreal,
Clariol, ie; That will lighten my hair slightly more then it is?
My ends are the same color as most of her blonde hair, but my roots are
darker, almost a strawberry blonde.
I will not go to a hairdresser...
it's
the lighting but the roots are as dark as her dark parts, I would like
them slightly lighter. I have tried using Garnier Belle Color in Light
Golden Blonde, but it didn't change my roots at all. Pehraps I should
have left it in longer? Could someone please help me?
(I should not use a bleaching kit on my processed hair.)
(I keep on bringing up this topic because I can not get a straight answer from anyone. Sorry.)

Don't u just hate that? Lol thats the risk w/ just using color on dark hair rather than bleach, there can be some uneveness or darker areas...I had the same a couple of times. The general rule as we all know is that color doesn't lift color, but infact there are few that do. If u can use koleston perfect its formulated to lifts color 2 and a half levels approx.
However, i know this won't answer or solve ur problem, but do u know anywhere that u can get hold of professional dye?

Try getting the blonde shade of ur choice in wella kp w/ 30 volume and u can go over the already colored hair. However, do a small test strand first, i'd feel horrible if something went wrong from the advide i gave
I go red, and i had a hairdressers overlap the darker roots (that were done w/ 20 vol.) this time w/ 30 volume w/ wella kp and it was much lighter. Also on behindthechair.com some of the stylists on the msgboard talked abt how kp is a color that lifts color. Not too much i believe, but enough to make a difference. Hope i've helped and tell me how it goes if u follow through.

If your roots are virgin, you can use L'Oreal hi-color on them.
It may also work on processed hair, but I've found it doesn't lift as
well on processed hair. If 20 vol developer wasn't strong enough,
you might try 30 with an ash blonde dye, but roots usually lift quickly
and easily, even with 20 vol.

Yes i think it should be ok, but if ur really not comfortable then u can just stick w/ the 20 vol. and kp. Koleston Perfect has a low ammonia content but i'm not sure how low. Leia's rite abt the hi-color not lifting on processed hair, i've tried that a couple of times w/ strand tests but no such luck.
I have pretty much black roots, it's not even a medium brown! But
they have already been lightened as you can see... the darker areas are
my roots. I will try the Loreal' thing.
My ends are light so I don't want to touch them,I just want to do the
roots. I did highlight my hair once and it broke off some of the
hair pretty short. Just a few, it's nothing serious. No one can notice
which is fine, but It is a sign that parts of my processed hair just
don't want to be touched again by bleach! LOL.
Anywhoo, I'm going to try Loreal' Highlift, I will just do my darker roots and see if I can get them lighter.
It's just that when I put my hair UP, it looks like I have very light brown hair and when it's down I look blonde. It's odd. LOL
