start at the nape. then go up a couple inches. then pin another on in up higher to see if it shows or blends in with your layers. mine go up to my ear, i have 3 wefts in and about 50 individuals

Also it depends on the thickness of your hair.  The thicker your natural hair the higher you need to go but the more camoflage you have.  But it you have layers that will probably help the situation.

I use the hair density as my guide. I texturize the ends so they
won't look like 'curtains'.
