Prime Minister Junichiro Koizumi said Tuesday he will not wear a necktie or jacket during the summer and urged other cabinet members to follow suit, apparently taking an "environment friendly" stance.
"It will be difficult for subordinate officers in the ministries to take off their ties and jackets if ministers continue wearing them, so I expect them to set an example," he told reporters.
Environment Minister Yuriko Koike echoed the premier, saying she is ready to hold a fashion show if ministers are troubled over how they should dress
