I've tried L'Oreal Color Gems.  It was okay, but I thought it faded rather fast. It was however, a red shade, and red always seems to fade fast.  When it comes to semi permanent, I like Clairol Colorgloss better.

Oh, and as to developer, buy the one that's made for it.  All the semi or demi colors have their own specific developer.

I love Wella's permanent line, but I've never tried their demi colors.  I have heard good reviews, though.

I think so.  I used to use their dark ash blonde (green base) to go from a level 2 to a level 6.  Wella Colorcharm has one of the best color selections, in my opinion.

well i decided to give it a try. i bought light natural brown, the 9 wt.
developer, and a neutral protein filler. i left it on for 20 minutes. my hair
is very dark, rich brown. not the color it was supposed to be, but i did
leave it on for a long time. and the color is beautiful.
