QuoteReplyTopic: need a new hairstyle for high school!! Posted: July 09 2005 at 12:05pm
Hey ya'll!!
In the fall I'm going to be a freshman in high school! i really want to have my hair cut short. my hair is thin and fine which makes it hard to grow long. And i really want to have a new 'do and be different than most of the girls (a lot of them have that long blonde hair). I'm open to all suggestions. thank you!

Whatever you do, make sure that you pick a style that works with thin, fine hair. Lots of stylists will give you cuts that require volume, and thin, fine hair is hard to give volume to even if you load it up with product.
Just looking for a few good hair slaves - is that too much to ask?
thank you I will definately make sure the style I want is good for thin and fine hair. But right now I'm not sure I will be able to get the cut. My mom is very reluctant about getting a short cut (right now it is a little past my shoulders) I dont think she will let me get it cut. It is too "boyish" she says. PS-ekatherine-if you ever find a few of those hair slaves--let me know, I could use a few of my own!!! lol

You could always make your point by printing out all the pics of beautiful short-haired women you can find and showing those to your mom ^_^ . For your purposes, androgyny is bad, so you're looking for women more Halle Berry than Annie Lennox. . . you know, the kind of women she'd have to be blind to mistake for men. . . Hopefully, once she sees the kind of image you're aspiring to, she might soften up a bit.
well I think my mom is finally getting used to the idea. But she still says she likes my hair now and don't change it. But meanwhile here are some of the hairstyles I like:
Mandy Moore: (with the first mandy moore photo you may have to click on the refresh button after you brought it up)
Okay, well I have more but I think that is the general feel of what I want, but I still don't know if any of these would work for my hair type. I guess I'll just have to go to the salon and find out!
Back when I was in high school in the late eighties a lot of girls had their napes buzzed with a weight line anywhere from mid-ear to above the ears, and this look seems to be coming on strong again. My wife and I were at the mall today, and I saw at least six high-school,or college age girls with this type of haircut, as well as a young lady in the Regis salon getting her long blonde hair cut off, with the shaved nape look. I think this is a very sexy, femanine look.

...or the other way around. I got my hair cut into a style that requires your hair to be pretty straight and smooth. Mine turned to act the complete opposite when it was cut, so how I have to put TONS on gel in it to keep it from becoming an afro.

I love that cut! That's what I wanted my hair to look like, but nooooo- it just HAD to suddenly turn curly grr...
Anyway, good luck with your cut! Hope it comes out the way you want!
Hey everyone!!! I just wanted to say thanks for all the comments and suggestions! Well I am happy to report I got my hair cut from a little below shoulders to a little below my chin! I love it soooooo much. My mom even says it looks good. It angles up to my face so it is a little longer in the back. It is so much fun to style. I can spike it to the sides for a fun and edgy look or I can sort of gel it back to make it look a little formal. Again, I just wanted to say thanks ya'll!!!

congrats on your new short cut! You sound very mature to make that decision for yourself, even though your mom wasn't too keen on that idea. Keep on making great decisions for yourself and you'll become a beautiful superstar in your own life.
**Hair type: 2a, which is wavy and fine.
**Color: Naturally dark brown, currently dyed reddish brown.
**Length: below shoulder length

Quite possible. Fashion runs in cycles, and we've already seen the return of the '70s and '80s, so the '90s should logically follow.
I have noticed people have been wearing pink and green :-P . . . which so doesn't go, but it did back when I was in junior high. I remember in junior high most of the popular girls had super-fluffy bob hair like Jennifer Grey did in _Dirty Dancing_. I'd kinda have to hope that part of the '90s, at least, doesn't come back-- super-fluffy hair can be scary!

Has anyone else noticed the early 90's styles coming back?
