QuoteReplyTopic: Surgical cuts in hair show scars - Help! Posted: July 09 2005 at 12:38pm
I had an endoscopic browlift 3 months ago. In that procedure, the surgeon makes a one-inch cut at your hairline, and 4 one-inch cuts within the hair (on the top of your head) that are about 1" back from your hairline. I love the results of the browlift and would recommend that surgery to anyone; however, because my hair is both fine and thin (and my complexion is super pale/white, and I have oily skin), depending upon how the wind is blowing that day, or how close someone is sitting to me, etc., those iddy biddy shaved areas and bright red/pink incision marks REALLY show and make me a dream-case for some make-over show. eeek! This wouldn't bother me (since I know it'll work itself out over time), -except- that I will be attending a reunion in 2 weeks, and I _don't_ want to look like I'm going through chemotherapy _and_ was just stabbed in the head five times _and_ am pretending neither is the case. Hellllp! I was going to try R$gain$, but the box said that it wouldn't literally grow hair overnight. :-) Phooey. Any ideas for a temporary solution that won't fall off my head the weekend of the reunion, but doesn't need to last more than a few days?
How about clip on bangs - or clip in extensions that you can add close
to your front hairline and wear pulled back in a barette or ponytail
near the top of your head? You would clip them in behind your
front hairline to hide the clip when hair was worn pulled up, and
keeping it pulled up like that will help on windy days. (If your
hair is very short, you could either go for a whole head of extensions
that you can wear up, or go for lots of hairspray to keep it down no
matter what).

I don't know much about clip in extensions, but if you ask on the
extension board, someone may be able to tell you where else you can get
easy to clip on but natural looking ones.
