QuoteReplyTopic: Retouching highlights... Posted: July 10 2005 at 11:12am
Hi all,
I have dark brown hair with cool beige highlights (not all over--just on the top layer for a more two toned effect).
I will need a retouch soon--however, finding quotes from salons is
hard...it seems like most of them want to charge as much as for
highlights, when to me, this seems like a much simpler job.
Can I go to a cheaper salon for a retouch, or should I investigate for
a really good colorist? It seems like a simple job to me,
especially since I have one color highlights and not all over.
And there's no way I can do this at home with products from Sally's,
hmm?
Thanks! :)

I agree. If its just crown foil highlights then it shouldnt cost as much. But I think most salons have a set fee for highlights.I know when I got highlights I paid the same every time, even if you couldnt tell the difference.Did you do these yourself? If so why dont you touch them up at home.Highlights look better when they are not perfect.I like when they are staggered on each side.so if you part your hair down the middle they dont quite match up.But If you got them done at a salon. Then go back.If you are happy with the results, then they can keep it looking the way you like it.

The reason that it cost the same is becasue it takes the colorist the
same amount of time and same amount of work to retouch the
highlights. Don't think of the retouch as the length of your hair
that needs to be retouched, think of the amount of hair that comes from
your scalp. The root of the hair near the scalp is where all
color weaving begins. Be careful trying it yourself, it is alot
harder than it looks. We only make it look easy.
Take care!!!

Lilibeach, welcome back! hehe. Is it o.k. to get highlights on color treated red hair? I want lighter orangey red highlights against the level 7/8 red as my base color.
