hey ya'll.  I'm looking to streak my hair, and i need to find a bright red dye, like the semipermanent colors that are red and blue and purple, but ones that are BRIGHT red.  not strawberry or auburn.  If you guys have had any luck with any of these colors, PLEASE respond. and thanks for your help in advance.

Special FX is supposed to be the best, but all reds fade and get wishy-washy after a week or two, then linger on forever.

I worked in biotechnology for a phd organic chemist. I told him we should work on the side to develop permanent hair dyes in bright colors. Did he believe me? Noooooo. Would we be rich now? God, yes.

Just looking for a few good hair slaves - is that too much to ask?

you could try loreal color rays in the red vareity. they are a bleach/bright color combo. i have used them before, and they do not wreck your hair. the color is as intense as the red of the box for the first two weeks, but will gradually fade after that. they will eventually get to the "bright burgandy" stage, but they will not look washed out inbetween.

you can do anything if you set your mindto it (just dont try this with hair, that could turn out bad)

I used "Colour Rays by L'Oreal"  a month ago on my daughters hair. She got the Red Color on her hair, and to this day her hair is still bright red.  She also got matching Red glasses to go with her hair!

The trick w/ maintaining ANY sort of red is using the rite shampoos and conditioners designed for color treated hair and ones that deposit color. Also buy a tub of red manic panic after u use the color rays so that when it fades u can go over it every month if u get wht i mean.

Yeah the color deposit shampoos are good.just dont confuse them with the stuff like pantene and john frieda for reds.they dont deposit any color. When I had red hair, color rinses worked well for me.Plus they are pretty cheap and non damaging.

i use the quantum reds conditioner that they sell at sallys when i am a redhead. it works well for me, and it seems to help with the fading. they also have a color deposition shampoo in the same line.

kim~~ i just love loreal color rays. ive tried all of the colors (seperatly) now the directions on the website recomend using more than one color at a time. this could be interesting!
