For those that are natural (and others who want to add) how often do you flat iron? Was it damaging? any mentionable results?

I am a natural 4a/4b and I flat iron once a month.  It is very damaging but not so much if its not done too often.  You definately lose moisture, so be sure to replace it when you flat iron
To whom much is given, much is expected.

Flat ironing for relaxed and natural is damaging to some extent.  I am natural and I flat iron every 2 weeks and make sure to apply little to no heat in between.  Just make sure you have some kind of heat protectant and a good hair oil when you flat iron and also watch the temperature of the iron so you won't burn your hair.  Test it on a piece of paper if you're not sure.  If the iron turns the paper brown it is too hot for your hair.  I use Paul Mitchell (The Heat)  for a protectant and Black and Sassy oil sheen spray to flat iron with.  It dosen't have the best smell but it's the best thing I've used so far. HTH.

Ion is a  very good thermal protectant for hair..i have used it upon purchasing a new ceramic flat iron, and was very pleased at how silky hair turned out, and at how long the style lasts.

i haven't tried paul mitchell's "heat" as of yet..but i'm sure it's good as well..there hasn't been a product of paul mitchell's that hasn't worked for me.

well i flat iron/press my hair about once a month because i always have braids,so whenever i take my braids out,i press hair, clip ends, and rebraid hair.

no it's not damaging at all because i only do it once a month and also before i flat iron i apply kemi oyl to my hair, then after im done i apply a lil more and the kemi oyl help my hair stay moist and soft
