QuoteReplyTopic: Hair hurts at root when I wake up? Posted: July 30 2005 at 5:11pm
This is a really odd problem as far as I can tell. Since about a week ago whenever I wake up, the hair on the crown of my head hurts roughly at the base. It doesn't hurt consistently, just, when I touch it it feels kind of like the root of the hair has shifted into an awkward position, and the skin around the hair strand seems to hurt a bit. I thought it was because I was using a stronger shampoo but my mom seems to be getting this problem too, and she's never had it before (she hasn't switched shampoos in a few years btw) my hair is about 2.5 inches long now, it's been longer but it never hurt. Could this be because of the dry weather? (It's pretty hot/dry up here in TO, Canada, this has been the warmest summer since like 1986 or something) or should I start worrying? any input is appreciated, thanks!
p.s. in case it helps, i just switched from dove shampoo/conditioner to fructis fortifying shampoo/conditioner. I realize fructis is stronger and i thought it was the problem, but my mom uses the former and she hasn't switched. I haven't ruled the possibility out yet though.
Sounds like a sore feeling on the scalp. Every time I put my hair into a position that gets the roots going in the wrong direction (e.g. high ponytail, where the hair goes UPWARD . It hurts to even think about it) then the scalp tends to feel sore. Maybe you're sleeping in a way that pulls your hair in the wrong direction (e.g. upwards, or parted to the wrong side)
