no amount of washing will take out the black.Only temporary colors wash out. What is the name of the color remover you have?It shouldnt hurt your scalp. And your right the sun isnt going to lighten your black hair.It may slightly, leaving it more orangy red.But nothing more. You were right to get the color stripper.Do not attempt to bleach or recolor until you have completely stripped out the black.Bleach wont take your hair back to blonde from black(not without alot of damage) .After you use the color stripper you'll be left with a orange color.which is normal. It may take a couple of times to get the black completely out. After its all out you can go ahead and recolor.Your not the first to go black and change your mind.Good luck:)

I have used the L'Oreal Haircolor Remover Kit before. It never burned my scalp...but it did make my scalp itch while it was processing. The smell was awful too. It did pull the permanent hair color out of my hair (very very dark brown) and turned my hair a very light orange almost a strawberry blonde. I applied permanent hair color right afterwards as suggested and never had a problem getting my desired color results...a light brown. A good rule of thumb is to do a skin and hair strand test first. If you pass both tests...open a window for good ventilation (the smell is very bleachy) before you begin the stripping process. If you have long or thick hair (shoulder length) you might want to get 2 boxes. Use an old towel or t-shirt. Always keep checking your hair color as it is being stripped...this stuff works fast! Once your hair is fully stripped to your prefrence you should be able to re-color. I always used a ash color to help tone down the reds. Best of Luck to you!
NOTE: and just for a piece of mind Mizumeki I did get the Haircolor Remover on my scalp and it never hurt me. Think about it...how are you going to completely strip your hair without touching your scalp...that's almost impossiable.

longbraidz is right. As far as the bleachy smell. You would be suprised how many color strippers work using bleach as their main ingredient. But dont be afraid it shouldnt be too much of a problem. You might have an irritatet scalp, but nothing more. And if you do bleach, please be careful.Going from black to blond is just about the hardest thing on hair possible. And dont even think of bleaching until all of that color is out.If you dont mind spending a little extra money you could go to a sally's beauty supply and buy colorfix. It will strip out the color without irritating your scalp.Plus its much gentler for your hair than other strippers. Most work with bleach, ammonia,or peroxide. If you are going to bleach in the future, colorfix would be the safest bet for keeping your hair as healthy as possible.

I most defiantly agree with Longhairdreams suggestion of useing the ColorFix instead of the L'Oreal Haircolor Remover Kit. I have tried both and the ColorFix is so much more gentlier to your hair and scalp. The smell isn't bad, and you also get the same desired hair color results. Please keep us posted with an update!

thanks peoples!! well i used the loreal haircolor remover kit... and at first my hair stayed black with a few yellowish blonde stripes in it, which i thought looked pretty cool. but when i woke up this morning it was orange, red, black, and blonde. im confused on why it happened over night but its pretty cool. but now my hair is kinda dried out. my family and friends are telling me to keep my hair like this cause it looks cool, but im dying to be a blonde again. ive been wanting to have very blonde hair thats almost white. but i dont know how to get it there, i doubt a hair dye will do it..... so if i dye it blonde will the sun lighten it like it would normally?
(sorry its so long )

I used both the L'Oreal Haircolor Remover Kit and also the Jheri Redding ColorFix numerous times before and I never had various hair color shades afterwards as you stated. Perhaps you might not have applied it evenly. You might want to go and get a very good deep conditioning treatment or two for the dryness and then try the ColorFix. I would like to know Longhairdreams suggestion on this...

it's obvious that your VERY unhappy with your current hair color. I have 2 suggestions that you might want to try.
#1 before you try anything else...PLEASE take at least a couple of days even a week to deep conditon your hair daily before chemically processing it any further. With the combinations of hair stripper and hair dye your REALLY drying out your hair.
#2 try the L'Oreal Haircolor Remover Kit again only because this is the product that you initally used first. Your going to need a friends help here...have them apply the stripper on the hair strands first that are the darkest color. Once that color has lifted to the next darker color...apply it to those strands...etc...what you are going to try is to achieve an all over even color.
#3 if you re-apply a new color...try useing an ash blonde. This helps to elimate the orangeish-reddish tones. I suggest that you try "L'Oreal Excellence Creme" Hair Color http://www.lorealparisusa.com/frames.asp#haircolor/index.asp I have used this hair dye before and it isn't as harsh as most others. They have an Excellence Shade Selector that you can click on and then you can view the colors that they offer. I'am not sure if your going to reach your goal of a blondish-white color but I see a beautiful color #01 Extra Light Ash Blonde that you may want to try.
Please keep me posted as to how things go for you. I'am crossing my fingers and wishing you the best of luck!

I think you need to get all the dye out.Or your going to continually get patchy hair.Sounds like you left the color remover on without washing it out? The reason it turned out uneven is because of two things. The color stripper works with bleach, and the other thing is you are trying to remove black hairdye, which is the hardest of all to remove. It usually takes a couple of strippings to remove it.sometimes more.Which is why a gentler stripper is so important. And LongBraidz is right, the ash will help counteract the orange. You shouldnt have to wait to do your hair.Hair doesnt heal. But I would give it a couple of days just to give your hair a small breather. And yes a good conditioner to make it less dry. Please dont waste anymore money on these box dyes.Just go and buy colorfix $10.Then when your hair is uniform orange, you can dye over with a dark blonde demi,or darker whatever it is your wanting to acheive. If you want to go any lighter, you'll need to bleach and tone. And After having black hair and using that bleachy color remover.I wouldnt recommend it.Unless you dont mind shaving it(if it gets mushy which is possible.)

I third that advice.I tried to tell you bleach wouldnt lift out the dark. You needed to strip it properly.I would just leave it to the pros.Or you might not have any hair left. And if your hair gets to the mushy stage(which is quite possible). You'll want to cut it all off.Good luck.

sorry I couldn't get back to you yesterday. Do not allow any more room for error. Your hair has been chemically processed too many times. Please don't use another (at home) hair color stripper, remover, bleach or dye. There definantly is a problem with the way your applying the hair stripper/remover or your hair is just not complying with the stripping process. Also take note of what Longhairdreams stated "trying to remove black hairdye, which is the hardest of all to remove". I'am in total agreement with eKatherine, Bryan, and Longhairdreams...your going to have to seek professional help at this point! Please keep us posted.
