QuoteReplyTopic: Growing out layers Posted: August 09 2005 at 6:42pm
When my hair gets longer maybe waist length or something, I want to cut my layers and even it all out. I hate layers for the follwing reason:
wet or dry putting hair into a ponytail or bun is a pain because I have alot more bumps, hair peices sticking out here and there, and it makes me mad!!
Also some people would be like "why is your ponytail ends uneven??"
So does anyone agree to this or not and why
Um another qeustion: Say if I cancel my membership will all my topic and posts get deleted also?

Good point!
Cathy, why would you want to cancel your membership here? I'm sure you could request a username change or something if you wanted to get another.
Anyhoo, I grew out from a boxie (pixiebob) and the layers were monstrous. I couldn't properly bun until mid back length. I couldn't do a single braid until waist length. But.... now that my shortest cut layers are about high-waist (not counting the natural terminal length of bangs at collar) I love my layers now. I think it's a matter of how long your hair is when it's layered.
That's true and no I would never think of canceling membership! I was just curious. I think I would like my hair if it was all even, I dunno why. Some people in my class like my hair and how fast it grows. So this boy sits behind me and all he does it tug on my pony or touch it. He also measures it too to keep track of how long it is! very funny too. So one day when he was studying it, he said "why are your ends un-even?"

My whole class cheered when one day I came from a really short pony to a medium! (that's because I took good care of it so it grew but then I blow dried it so it looked even longer! But don't tell them I said that... lol!!)

My whole head is layers, every now and then I think I might get it cut so its all one length but then I think It would be a Pixie cut again LOL so I'm gonnna just leave it alone and see how it goes or should I say GROWS... I hate my hair right now, I can't do anything with it So I'm going to sit on my hands and do not do anything, let this phase pass I guess.

I have layers beyond layers. I'am not fretting about it though because I know in time some of the layers will grow and catch up to the others and with occasional trims my hair should all eventually even out. Exercise patience mizzcathy...your hair will also eventually even out.

my friend just discouraged me today. I told her that I wanted to grow my hair to the top of my bra for at least one year. She told me it's not gonna happen because she takes good care of her hair and it doesn't grow that fast.

Well then your friend either (a) doesn't really take as good care of her hair as she thinks, or (b) she has a really slow growth rate. Everybody's growth rates are different, depending on their metabolism, level of daily activity, etc.. Don't be discouraged by your friend Someday she'll be asking you for hair advice so she can get to BSL too.
When I first started growing my hair, I just let everything grow
out. It was a shaggy mess for about a year, but then I started
getting little shaping trims; 6 months later it was looking much better.
Regarding your hair, don't listen to your so-called friend, Cathy.
