My hair is naturally dark blond. I've had some highlights put in, but decided to go all-over a lighter shade. So I dyed my hair last night, but didn't get quite as light as I wanted- I'd like about 1-2 shades lighter! (darn box, so deceiving!) Absolutely nothing's wrong with the color, just not as light as I wanted. Will I damage my hair beyond belief (or do something even worse) if I dye it again tonight in an even lighter shade? Or should I wait a few weeks and then go a lighter shade?

Thanks for any help here! :)

I'd recommened some conditioning treatments over the next few weeks and try again in 2 or 3 weeks. I suggest waiting a minimum of 2 weeks. Remember you have been warned!!!

people are going to do it anyways and not wait 2-3 weeks so if you must.. theres some new hair color dyes that allow you to go as possibly blonde as you can (like 2 shades lighter then yours) without having to bleach. ther really work. "blondissm" i think their called and its by loreal.

OK this is not true. You can call it lightener or whatever but the active ingredient to make your hair lighter is BLEACH. It's in every HairColoring product. The manufacturer knows this but they like to make it sound more friendly to your hair so they call it something else like a "LIGHTENER" for your hair....but make no mistakes about it it's BLEACH.

As for professional products they are commonly called lighteners so the stylist will say I'm going to put this lightener in your hair and leave it on for 30 minutes. It sounds so much more customer friendly instead of saying ok I'm going to put BLEACH in your hair and leave it on for 30 minutes.

It's BLEACH! No matter what you call it.
