Hi, I'm looking into getting hair extensions for the 1st time (in Anchorage,
Alaska, of all places!... not as many resources for getting "prettied-up" in
this state, so this forum is a blessing!). I'm trying to figure out type of
hair and application that I'd like to get after I finally settle on a salon,
well, IF i can find a salon to do what I want. Really thinking I want
Plastikhaar done in with pinchbraids.

I just saw LuckieDuckies' photo from Aug 13th, and I think she looks
fantastic!!! LuckieDuckies, is that 50mm, and what colors of Plastikhaar
did you get? I'm a natural blonde with your skin tone, tho I have blue
eyes, and I was totally struck by how well those blonde colors looked on
you. (and the pink, how awesome for summer!)

Any info would be greatly appreciated.

LOL , I totally agree with you there! I'm in Fairbanks, and the few salons that actually *do* extensions, do Hairlocs and Great Lengths , and I refuse to do them (every one of them told me those 2 methods were the best for my fine, thinning hair - *cough*"NOdamage"*coughbulls**t*   I finally found this board, and have been experimenting with DIY methods on my guinea pig sister <3 (shrinkies, pinchbraids & weaves mostly)

I'm really not sure what's available in Anchorage, tho, if you find anything, keep us posted!  Good luck!

hi kimberly : ) thanks for the compliments!  actually i have blue eyes too but their so dark they hardly ever show up blue in pictures =\... that is 50mm plastikhaar, we did all of the color 'blonde' on the bottom thats exactly what its called and then the top is seiden blonde with highlights of platinum blonde...  good luck : ))  and if you do find somewheres that does pinchbraids their great! i absolutely love them!

p.s. the pink is babyrosa just incase you decide to do some colors yourself

LuckieDuckies, thanks for the info on your GREAT hair! What an awesome
blend of colors. And on a fellow blue-eyed girl, no less!    I'd love to
do the pink babyrosa color while it's still kinda-sorta summer here in
Alaska... how cool to have that kind of ability to swap out colors with
extensions!

I'm currently trying to persuade my current hairstylist to do my
extensions and haven't heard back from her yet.   Aeone, I go to
Mechelle's Hair Design in Anchorage... she does a lot of the models'
hairstyles for Alaska Bride magazine. Mechelle's very talented and likes
trying new, cool stuff (and if I pay her for it, even better!) and can
probably pick up the pinchbraid technique quickly, so if I hear back from
her in the positive, Aeone, I'll let you know! A 6 hour drive each way from
Fairbanks is a little easier on the pocketbook than an airline ticket... I
lived in Fairbanks for a year and a half and went down to Anchorage when
I used to have my hair permed. It was the same thing then, women would
stop me and ask where I had my hair done, and sigh "I should've known"
when I told them Anchorage. I feel for you, Aeone, but at least you have
your sister! (my hair's still fried from when I let my husband do my
highlights... crap, what was I thinking?)
