QuoteReplyTopic: My Hairs Life Story... Posted: August 21 2005 at 10:03pm
On Sept 21, 1992, my mother gave birth...to me. I was told that even then i had enuff hair to look like a bear cub. When i started gr1...(let's just skip the first 6 years of my life), my hair was short, up to my jaw. No problems there...lets move on. In gr2...umm...it was the same... In gr3, it was basically the same but a few inches longer then what it was in gr2...and 1. Now...gr4...*chills*...grade 4 was HORRIBLE...from teacher to personal appearance. Well, this is how the story goes...about 2mnths after I gr4 started...i went to get my hair cut. I asked the lady for LAYERS, but not to short, (let's clearify that my hair was long...way past my shoulders). She had an accent...so did i. I dont think we understood each other. I think all she heard was "layers" and "short". The end product was what i called.."The Elvis Cut". You can picture how horrible that would look on a 9 year old. It had that same puff at the front as elvis did and was as short, boy hair short. It still bothers my now. Grade 5 was a bit better...my hair grew out of the elvis stage...but it was still short. In gr6...i hated my hair...it was long...a lil past my shoulders..(yes, that was long for me..after the elvis cut), and it was literally a huge poofy triangle! Now tell me whats worse...the elvis cut or the triangle??? After my gr6 grad, (yeah my school's wierd...it goes from gr1 to gr6, the one beside it goes from gr7 to gr12), i moved on to gr7...but during the summer of gr6 i got my hair cut again. This one was good. She gave me exactly what i wanted...layers (i've always had layers) and for my hair to be up a few inches above my shoulders. Now...its almost the end of my gr7 summer...and im going to gr8... I've realized now that i've had layers all my life...i still want to look good for gr8...but i want something different, yeah sure maybe layers again but in a different, new, fresh way! Let's not forget my dream to have wavy/curly hair. Right now i still have layers but my hair is past my shoulders...it's strange because after the elvis cut my hair never grew quite that long... Yep, that was my hair's life story, but not to worry maybe 10yrs from now i'll right this same piece again...except it would be a whole lot longer. Any ideas would be better than anything i would be able to think of...so..please...dont hesitate to reply.
Hey, I'm 12...but going on to 13 soon, in a few weeks. My hair is black...i've been wanting to dye my hair brown...but my mom doesnt agree with that, sadly enough... she doesnt want me to "damage" my hair. Yeah, i know that sux...but i cant realli change her mind, (unfortunatley).
But thnx for replyin, *cheers*

Hi, honey. Well, okay...you want something fresh and different, but aren't sure yet what that is for your hair. What you need to do is find *exact* pictures of hair you would absolutely love to have. Be realistic--only use pictures of hair your approximate texture and thickness and of course they must be your current length or shorter. Look at hair magazines in stores for ideas, or on the internet (Google "hairstyles, medium length").
Once you have some really, really, *really* firm ideas of what you want...decide on the *one* style you would love to have going into 8th grade and print out that picture and bring it to your stylist. You want a very, very firm visual for your hairdresser to use. Because if you say you "just want something different," you may end up with Elvis hair again...or worse! Take it from one who has been down this road before!
If you take the time to do this ahead of time, you will end up with fantastic hair for 8th grade! Good luck and have a good school year!
