quick history of my nightmare.....it all begin when I got my long highlighted hair cut short, and then the back of my hair was my natural color which was medium brown (i think...lol ) oh yeah it was! I decided I wanted it all one color so I was gonna use something not too harsh on my hair. I work at Sally's Beauty supply and we sell some pretty good semi-permanent hair color. I decided I would use Colorgems in the dark brown color to make sure I got the coverage I needed. The thing about it was that it said Dark Brown but it came out Black as night.  Anyhow after 6 months with no touch ups and no fading I decided it was time for a change. I tried color corrector (not), colorfix - 3 times (not even a budge) then I decided to use bleach. Bad Mistake - made my hair the brightest, funkiest orange ever which I have lived with for a little while. It all did alot of damage to my Hair.

I realize to get my hair to the color I want, that it will have to be ahcieved in steps, but I could no longer go around with a hat on my head. So, today I decided to buy protein filler which I applied first then I added a blonde toner with blue-violet base, and also a tube of red/gold corrector plus to the Mixture......it has improved the color 150%. It has toned it down wonderfully, again it is still not where I want it to be, but I can live with it.

I then followed up with Keragenics revitalizing Protein Pac which I left on for about 30 minutes with a towel covering my head. It feels great and doesn't look too bad.

I will never, never put another Dark Brown or Black color head again!

Anyway sorry for the long post, but I see there is alot of us out there trying to go from Black to a lightier color with the luck of ORANGE. So, I just wanted to share my experience, and maybe help someone else.

Happy Dyeing

So, when you have orange hair from either bleaching or stripping, it takes in dye too well and ends up darker than on the box?

Basically what I found out from the hair dresser is that when you have a light color to begin with example: Blonde, Light orange etc. and you put a dark haircolor on top whether it is permanent or semi-permanent it stains the hair. Which makes it alot harder to dye over it, unless you continue to use dark colors.  I was also was told had I used a filler before applying the dark color over the lightier color that I may not have had the extensive problems that I had trying to lighten my hair.

Now it will be a gradual process, no quick fixes here. I am still a strawberry blondie - orangey color. But it is more one color than it was. Then I will wait a few weeks, and dye again. It may take 2 more times to get it to where I would like it to be.

Also just to add, I thought that I was gonna have to have my hair cut because of the damage. I have been using Nature's Therapy Mega Repair recovery complex. It has worked wonders for my hair. Feels soft. I switch up with Keragenics revitalizing Protein Pac.

Happy dyeing
