This sorta dovetails with a question Tangles asked the other day, but it's a bit different: What is it that attracts you to a website? (A content website, that is, not a commerce one.)

I come back to this site mainly for the people, and initally found it because it contained a lot of good info on extensions that I couldn't find anywhere else on the Web.

Is it the community, the ease of use/navigation, the content (articles, news, etc.), promotions, blogs, searchability, the design and/or photos? What are some of the other sites you visit again and again, and why? Conversly, are there features that automatically turn you off to a site? (For me, long intros with slow load times drive me batty....).

Thanks in advance!

I love pictures, a site being colourful and easy to use, not loads of links links links, just being simple to me xx

I visit  www.defamer.com    PerezHilton,   www.gorillamask.net  the key west local newspaper www.keysnews.com   the crime report and the citizens voice are out of this world.  I also go to www.guardian.co.uk  for a different perspective of the news than you get here in the mid-west.   For shopping,  these days I'm visiting www.beautyhabit.com  they have this greek shampoo that smells like honey... it's heaven,  there's something new every day.

For music reviews  I like www.stereogum.com

I love fresh information and will put up with boring presentation to get it.  Nothing irritates me more than fab graphics and animation that you have to sit through, only to have the server tell you there is no content yet.   It reminds me why I think society is swirling around the toilet.  Cheers.

I thought of Paris Hilton when I read that.

Oh,  Kalika,  you have to check out a webpage  www.madewithsweetlove.com   Handicrafts that I think would appeal to your unique sensibilities.  All my x-mas gifts came from their this year.

Lots of fast loading quality graphics. Easy navigation-I hate getting lost in a site and have to search on how to get back to the home page. Each link to every page should be accessable from each and every page.

I hate intros that I either have to sit through or click to skip. I'll leave a site that has an intro period. Of course good solid information, update galore: keep it fresh and changing, FAQs.

No harsh colors like black backgrounds with white letters- ugh!

I like sites that are simple enough that I can navigate them on my computer or on my Palm (love my Wi-Fi card).  Really complex sites (w/ flash and all that other annoying stuff) won't display on the Palm's browser, and I prefer sites that I can browse anytime, regardless of what computer I'm using.

I also like things that are consistently updated, so you know there will be fresh content.  Other than hair talk, sites I visit with some regularity are www.televisionwithoutpity.com (TWOP) and www.mugglenet.com (yes, I'm a dork!).  TWOP is a combination of forums devoted to certain TV shows as well as the snarkiest episode reviews ever.  There is both community (though often not as close a network as ours) and consistent new content.  I can also easily read the forums from my Palm.  I also look at some of the tech blogs, like www.engadget.com, but that's more work-related for me.
