Do you think that less product is more when caring for your hair? Or more is better? What is absolutely necessary to apply and what do you think is a waste?

1. How many products do you apply to your hair on a daily basis?  (1, 2, more...)

2. What products do you use ? (list product name)

3. In what order do you apply them? (leave-in, moisturizer, oil, etc)

hmmm

Let's see

1. I use conditioner(a conditioner concentrate that i purchased online and add liquid aloe vera to) daily. I also use my glycerin/water mix as a daily leave in conditioner/moisturizer. At nite- i use either shapley's m-t-g, my rosemaryoil, sweet almond oil and wheatgerm oil mixture or jamaica black castor oil.

2 . Product names- i use a shampoo concentrate that i got from www.thechemistrystore.com  i also use a conditioner that i got from there. Other products that i currently rotate, Biojoba shampoo by joico, capilo milk and honey conditioner rinse, cream or nature shampoo, cream of nature porosity conditioner, plan to start using saloncare shampoos and conditioners- i purchased from sally's.(wild cherry shampoo, passionfruit shampoo, honey and almond conditioner, balsam conditioner and remoisturizing conditioner). I use evening primrose oil, sweet almond oil, castor oil, apricot kernel oil, rosemary oil, jamaica black castor oil, shapley's m-t-g . I use a glycerin/water mix too.

3. Order that i use them- daily - conditioner, then glycerin/water mix

nitely- oil, massage in then apply thin plastic cap

poo day- pre-treat hair with castor oil- leave in for 45 mins to 2 hours
apply thin plastic cap.

shampoo

rinse out conditioner

deep conditioner(either cholesterol or lamaur's bone marrow)

spray with either glycerin/water mix or bed head's protein roostertail.

Thanks, carameldiva! Your products always sound so good and healthy for the hair  Do you use the oils directly on your hair for moisture or mainly to seal? I'm interested in the rosemary oil, sweet almond oil, wheatgerm oil mixture and jamaica black castor oil. Do you order these online or purch @ a healthfood store?

i apply my oils on the scalp but massage them into my hair as well and i order my oils from www.thechemistrystore.com and www.camdengrey.com  Believe it or not browneyes- i don't like protective styling and i was wondering why my hair was not growing as fast as i thought it should be and then the answer came to me - i was lacking something in my regimine and that was the moisture- with the addition of that my hair is thriving i can see the growth and i love it. but yes all of the products are great- i hope that you and your hair like them as well.

I guess..4 I mix b&b oil moisturizer, with wgho, carrot oil, and melt some shea butter and mix that in.  I use it  at night before bed, after I wash my hair to air dry, for anything. It is wonderful. my hair has never been so soft and shiney. That mixture is the only thing I use If you have some time you should mix just a bit put it on before bed, and see if you like it.

I have been experimenting with different products. I am trying  different methods. I was natural and could not take it anymore so I went to a relaxer. I use soft and beautiful. I am really loving the condition washes I use vo5 oasis honey and almond and follow up up  with pantene prov for african american women. I use s-curl and profectiv healthy ends daily. The regular weekly  wash I use Allways Mosterizing formula shampoo, Suave Humectant or Lakair as a deep condtioner and  Infusim as a leave in. I still have yet to try Design Essentials line which sounds so good and Salerm 21 as a leave in. I have ask these companies for samples first then I will buy it I am still looking to really see what my hair really likes. I love cream of nature but every time I use it my shoulders burn as if a relaxer was applied to it and it stays this way for a few days.

Carameldiva, I agree w/ you on the lack of moisture in your regimen making a huge difference. I've learned so much since joining this forum and I make it a habit to moisturize my hair 1-2x's daily. Thanks for the web info..although I loathe ordering online I may have to bit the bullet bcuz those oils sound yummy

Layla, I just bought the Elasta QP mango butter last week. I've tried it 1x but haven't formed an opinion on it yet..smells great though. It didn't seem to disagree w/ my hair so I definitely be trying it again.

Cebnn, that mixture sounds great! I was in Sally's today looking/smelling the WGO Whew..but I guess if I can stand MTG anything else should be a breeze. What difference have you seen in your hair since using it? Growth, thickness, softness?

Kally, thanks for the suggestions. I want to try the Salerm too. Wish I could get a sample b4 buying!  I'm tired of buying products and not liking them. Waste of $$$$ for me. I could open a store w/ the products I have now. I like the Profectiv healthy ends too. Question about the Infusium--does it not leave your hair hard/dry? I tried it few years ago and didn't like it at all. Do you dilute it?

1. How many products do you apply to your hair on a daily basis?  (1, 2, more...)

-Around 5

2. What products do you use ? (list product name)

-Fantasia IC, Oyin's Shine and Define and Oyin's whipped pudding(love it!), Care Free Curl spray in, unrefined shea butter for my ends and sometimes EVOO.

3. In what order do you apply them? (leave-in, moisturizer, oil, etc)

-I apply the Fantasia, shine and define and care free curl in the morning for styling and the whipped pudding, shea butter and EVOO at night. My hair comes out very moisturized in the morning.

My answers apply to how I'm wearing my hair now which is naturally curly but when I wear my hair straight I use way less products.  Usually just a little EVOO or shea butter for my ends and Black and Sassy oil sheen spray.

I'm trying to simplify my regimine because I beleive that less products is probably better but I do beleive that you should use some type of product and not just go with bare hair because the hair needs something to protect if from the elements (wind, cold, sun, pollutants in the air....etc.)

I have notices it is alot softer, and has a lot more shine. I dont have to use it that ofter to keep my hair moisturized, so Its not so weighed dowm, and looks alot fuller. I have stoped keeping track of my hair, and just noticed how much it has grown the other day, but I cant say for sure it was the mixture..hth

1. How many products do you apply to your hair on a daily basis?  (1, 2, more...)  Usually zero, unless u include steam.

2. What products do you  use ? (list product name) Shampoo and conditioner (mixed with oils)

3. In what order do you apply them? (leave-in, moisturizer, oil, etc) conditioner- shampoo - conditioner

I made a leave in for winter that consist of water, conditioner, oil and garner fructus strong ends.

Less is more for me, if I use products my hair becomes hard and soft...when i don't use anything my hair stays soft and I like it that way.

But that doesn't mean I don't like to try new products...lately I have been looking for companies that supply samples. I will give the information after I recieve the orders...if I never recieve an order than they won't get recommendations from me...Good Customer service only.
