My 8 month old son's hair is dry. I have been using baby oil, but want to try something different to moisturize his har. I don't want anything too heavy (like creams) that will weigh his hair down and would like something as natural as possible. What are you using on your babies' hair or what would you suggest

My little brother had the same problem when he was a baby. (He's 11 now!). Baby Oil dries out the hair. Plus, at 8 months, his hair texture has probably changed a bit from when he was itty bitty. Try rubbing a tiny bit of shea butter through his hair after you wash it. Shea butter is a great moisturizer. It is a solid cream but a tiny bit should melt when you rub it through your hands and into his hair. Try a local health food store for a good quality shea butter.  After my mom used this in my brother's hair it was moisturized and grew in very thick and shiny.

Baby oil is mostly mineral oil and it is drying.  I agree with Honeydoo on the shea butter.  It can be a bit heavy for some but if you just use a small amount and melt it in your hands it will be ok. Also, olive oil would be good to use also because it is gentle for little ones.  There is also a soap made for babies called castile soap and it is 100% olive oil. HTH

Jojoba oil or sweet almond oil may help as well since they are very close to our own natural sebum.

Great - I really appreciate all of your suggestions! I'll try out the Shea Butter first and see how that does. A co-worker of mine also suggested olive oil, so if the shea butter doesn't work out I'll try the Jojoba oil. Thanks again!
