Hey ladies! I was wondering if any of you used shealoe? Did you make your own and if so how did you make it? I just recently make some but I'm not sure if i made it right. I melted my shea butter in the microwave and added equal parts aloe vera gel, stirred and let sit. I can't really describe the consistency but I like how it came out. It's not as heavy as straight shea butter and it can be used for skin and hair. I love the results for both my skin and hair. I'm using this as a facial moisturizer also.
I wish I had some essential oils to add to it, then it would be perfect. What are some of you ladies favorite essential oils?

I made some, cause I had lots of shea butter to get rid of...I think i put it in the recipe section. When I made it with equal poritions a few days later the aloe and the shea seperated. A friend from another board told me to make it 60% shea and 40% aloe and that worked and it didn't seperate and I actually liked it.

Thanks cmesweet. I will check the recipe section out. Hmmm.....60/40....I think I used too much aloe, but I still like the results. The consistency feels somewhat like cream of wheat or something. That's the only thing I can compare it to....lol I was hoping it would be more smooth and blended if that makes sense.
I will definitely try the 60/40 next time.

This past weekend I made a blend of Shea butter, Wild hair growth oil and a light conditioner. I put it in the microwave and then blended it all together. I poured it on my dry hair, focusing especially on the ends. I put a plastic cap on and use a heated towel for 30 minutes.
I then washed it out (2 washes) and used Triple Moisture from Neutrogena for about 3 minutes. I then let it air dry and then I used Elasta qp Mango Butter on each section of hair I curled with a low-heat curling iron.
I then wrapped it....the next day WOW!!! It was absolutely beautiful!!! It was full, bouncy and very soft to the touch and to the eyes. I went to church and had so many compliments about my hair and people asking me what did I use to get it so beautiful. My husband also, when he came home from work said, "Wow, thats the best I've seen your hair in a long time.
For me this is a blessing because of you and all the ladies here in the forum. If it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have such a great testimony about my hair. I'm looking forward to the future with "long" hair once again...and healthy hair too!

Wow, that sounds great! I'm glad to hear that your hair is thriving. Just stick with this forum and your hair will be healthy and growing. I've learned a lot from here and other forums also.
It sounds like your hair tearned out beautiful. What kind of shea butter do you have? I have Nassab and it's awsome. I've heard a lot about wild growth oil but I haven't tried it yet. I think I will try that but I might substitute the wild growth with olive oil because I don't have any wild growth oil. Was it hard to wash out? I noticed you mentioned having to wash twice.

I use the nassab shea butter that you recommended. No, it wasn't hard to wash out, I just washed twice with a small amount of shampoo just in case it was too oily with just 1 wash. It did came out so nice. This was my first time doing it, so I was very pleased.
I don't know if I'll do it every week...maybe every 2 weeks and see what happens.
Thanks for responding. Have a nice day.

Okay, that's great that your hair came out so nice. I love the Nassab shea butter, it just smells kinda funny. I did a hot oil treatment with it and it came out good. I think I will try the way you did it and see what happens.
You have a good day also.
