Okay I've decided to bleach. But I really need help from you all on here...okay.

My hair is naturally black but now, after dying it's reddish brown. Okay I want my hair golden brown to match my skin tone. So I'm guessing i have to remove this color to get it back to black, then bleach to the orange stage, then color it with a golden brown dye and then should I FINALLY have it to the golden brown I want?!

Please please help!!!! Much appreciation!!

Well remove the color first with colorfix--most gentle remover out there.  The hair certainly won't be black again.

Stages of bleaching:

Level 10 - LIghest BLonde - Pale Yellow
9 - Very Light Blonde - Yellow
8 - Light Blonde - yellow/gold
7 - medium blonde - Gold
6 - Dark Blonde - Orange/gold
5 - Lightest Brown - Orange
4 - Light Brown - Red/orange
3 - Medium Brown - Red
2 - Dark Brown - Red/brown
1 - Black - Dark Red/Brown

Sounds like bleaching to the orange stage is correct, but make sure you know what ORANGE stage looks like: Robert Craig has some samples if you search the site.

By the way sometimes Golden makes the hair red...you may just try strand testing with a neutral dye in the level you want.

Good luck and I hope this helps.

great points Rebekah :)

I think that you also should not put just a golden brown dye on your orange hair (once you've removed the old dye), what you could do to avoid a funky outcome is to mix equal parts of a neutral brown dye at the same level and a golden brown dye at the same level. Then it won't come out strange

good luck

hmm i bleached relaxed hair, mine actually. there was minimal damage to my hair. but then i have tough hair coz my hair was relaxed coloured and bleached. but the real damaged occur after i colored it again and then have it relaxed again. it turn ito spagetti. it was soft, squishy, and breaks if you squezed it again. never again shall i go through the ordeal again.
