Is everyone still happy with this machine? (Metalgirl...are you still having tape problems?)

When pretipping with this machine...do you tip on or off weft?

Overall... on average how long does it take for installs? If you pretip first how long does it take to tip, oh say, 200 tips?

Thanks ladies!

I am probably the only one here who hated it. I sent it back two days after I recieved it. Not only is is cheap looking and heavy to use against the clients head, I found the tape didn't heat up that much so it took forever to bond one extenion! Maybe it's 16 years of fusion using a hot box but I really didn't like it. The couple I tried in a friends hair came out very quickly and making small bonds which would last I found impossible.

Like I said, I'm probably the only stylist here who didn't get on with it, but you asked!

I would say I still do not have a complete opinion on it yet, but I'm not thrilled with it so far.

I agree with Angelemma, it is cheap looking and is very heavy and cumbersome to hold up against someone's head.  The unit gets hot and sometimes hurts the client's head.

I find that the 'auto' button is useless because 3 seconds are not enough time to heat up enough adhesive.  With my unit, I try to turn off the auto mode, but it constantly comes back on all by itself!  It's really annoying.

I didn't like using wefted hair, so I have been using the shoelace tip hair strands.  I did an install with hair from hairpiece.com.  I double coated it with glue.  One coating of glue is not enough.  I have the client hand me the hair and then  coat it with glue, then I use the machine to apply it to the head and it gets another coating again.

I tried pre coating, but that's too time consuming and I don't want to spend my free time at home doing that.

The whole process is time consuming.  I did an install yesterday that was approximately 200 pieces and it took me almost 7 hours!  We did't take any breaks either.

When I installed hair off the weft, I had very bad shedding within a few weeks.  Again, this machine doesn't put out enough glue.

I used some shoelace tipped hair from Short to Long, and since they coat their pretips with a lot of wax, it made it so the hair would not bond very well, and again, within a week there was huge shedding issues.

As long as I don't use synthetic hair or thermo hair, I don't have problems with the tape melting or breaking.

So I guess I would say that I'm not thrilled with it so far!

Metal girl I'm glad you agree! Also what is the point of using pre-tipped hair if this machine is supposed to do all the work for you? I found it so tricky to use the loose hair, hold it to the clients head then use the heavy machine to glue it, and then it doesn't give enough glue which is cold by the time I go to roll it! Much easier to either use pre-tipped (nail shaped) hair and melt it on, or normal fusion IMO!

I was told not to use the auto function but even pressing the button two to three times I didn't get enough glue off the tapes and when I did it was so bulky. Maybe I am just hard to please?!

Possibly the reason Xtendmagic is not getting hot enough is because the machine takes 220v and your using 110v? Just a thought. I bet the company would be accomodating when they hear that the Xtendmagic users would like more glue with each application.
