Hi Ladies...How are you guys? I blowdried my hair (for the first time since cutting) after roller setting and it came out kinda puffy because when I BCed in August it was all cut whereever the line of demarcation was so now the top is shorter than the bottom. I want to wear is straight for the holidays but I do not want it to look puffy again....any ideas on non chemical straightening alternatives/styles...thanks girls!!
I stopped using blowdriers to blowdry my whole head of hair and I have noticed the benefits of quitting that. The only time I use a blowdrier is when after sitting on under the dryer for an 1hr my scalp is slightly damp, then I will whip out the blowdryer to dry the scalp. I would suggest doing a flat wet wrap under a hooded dryer and then using a ceramic flat iron to straighten the hair.
Yes, flat ironing gets my relaxed hair much straighter than blow drying
so I'm sure it'd do the same to natural hair. It's probably not safer
since it is direct heat on the hair but you don't have the brush
pulling on the hair.

I think that flat ironing your hair would be a good option. Mine gets stick straight with it and usually stays that way. I don't know if flat ironing is safer than blow drying but I would definitely not do both. I do the same exact thing that blackhoney does. After I sit under the dryer for an hour (that's as long as I can take under that thing) I will put some moisturizer on and blow out the excess moisture (3 minutes, tops), then flat iron. I agree with her on the flat wet wrap also. I've been doing this lately and it works well. I am not a fan of blow dryers because I just feel like my hair is getting fried and all the moisture is getting sucked out.
If you do decide to flat iron make sure to use a heat protectant.
