I dont think ive relaxed my hair since early
september and even then it was a half assed job
where i barely processed becuz i used so
much pre con,, and my hair is NO problem,, the only
problem is the relaxed parts!! the only portions that
are rough and coarse are those with relaxer in them
GRRRRR im kicking myself for continuing to
relax it,, my natural hair is just soft (tho frizzy and
insane to manage) curls that straighten much better
than the tough relaxed hair with a good flat iron,, ive
been on MSM since sept 8th also,, that may also be
why my hair seems so soft ,, i dunno but i just see
no need whatsoever for a perm but i am worried
about the summer ,, it gets sooooo humid here in
nyc and i dont know if flat ironing alone would cut it
but ill worry about that when it comes,,,, i plan to go
thru the winter and spring relaxer free,,,, hopefully i
can kiss perms goodbye for good...
Hair type: 3b some c?, fine strands, last relaxer sept 05, never again!!! current :ap length on sides,,nearly bsl in back, damn those old frazzled ends! I am hair OBSESSED

Lucky you.  My Phytospecific will be here by Wednesday at latest, so I'm hoping I can get a relaxer over the holiday.  If this stuff is even half as good as I've heard, I'll gladly fork over 60 dollars every four months.

Make every day you have count, before the time comes for you to count every day you have.

Yes, that's me too cookies cause I'm so through with perms or any chemical myself.  I have fine hair and chemicals wreck havoc on my already fine hair.  My culprit was texturizer.  I was convinced that is was more gentle so I overprocessed with it.  The bad part is the texturizer made my hair not curly or straight, just frizzy!  It's better since I've trimmed so now I'm letting that thing grow out for good!

Hey cookie.  I'm glad to hear you have decided to go natural.  I know you will love your natural hair.

I think our hair is somewhat similar (haven't seen your natural curl yet) and I know mine stays stick straight until my next shampoo.  Especially since using the maxiglide it's almost too straight.  But, like you said.....the humidity is the only problem.  That is why I wear my hair curly in the summer months which in the long run is a very good thing because it gives my hair a break from heat and I usually gain a few inches from it.  I've grown to love wearing it curly now but it took a long time.  I learned a lot from Naturallycurly.com on the 3b hair board.

I noticed the same thing with my old relaxed hair.....it was more rough than my natural hair which was soft and silky curls.  I couldn't wait until it was all gone.  I never plan to relax again.

Good luck on your journey!

Hey, I checked out your curly pics.  My hair is a lot like that.  Your hair will probably be even easier to manage after the relaxer is gone.  I found that mine was much easier.  Sorry to hear about your bad salon experience.  That's why I'm leery of going to salons, because some stylists don't have a clue what to do with curly hair.  They end up being so rough with it.
