QuoteReplyTopic: Eye Shadow for Hazel Eyes Posted: December 06 2005 at 10:11pm
I have hazel eyes and would like to bring out the green more. My skin is olive and my hair is reddish brown with blond streaks. Any ideas on eye shadow colors to use/brands? I like shimmery shadows; also I am not looking for dark shadows--more natural.

I'm not expert, though I should be -- ha, ha -- with all the years I've put into "playing" with makeup ... but I have hazel eyes and I use purple eyeshadow and I think it really brings out the green. Not to mention I get loads of compliments. I like mine dark but you can try a lavender. I use a shimmery lavander on the whole lid, up to the brow, and then I put a really bright purple in the crease. Like I said, I like mine dark but I've seen girls with just the lavender and I think it looks gorgeous. I recently saw a girl with reddish hair with the lavender on and it was so pretty! My lavender is Maybelline, Silver Lilac (Perle) but they don't make it anymore (I bought as many as I could!) so you'd have to find something else and my crease color, if you're interested, is Milani brand and called "Enchantment" (Walgreens).
Lavendar would definitely stand out, but with olive skin it may bring
more attention to the lavendar than the eyes because its such an
opposite color (so to speak). Though I'd say try everything, I
like to see lavendar with red hair too, and you never know how it will
work on you until you try! Browns may brighten the greens in your
eyes by contrast and go well with olive skin, you may also try an olive
green darker than your eyes and see what that does.

Plum shadows also work. What shade of hazel eyes do you have? Most make-up companies depict hazel as a variety of brown in their example illustrations, but my hazel eyes are greener than most people I have known that have green eyes. And some variations of hazel have more blue in them as well.
