QuoteReplyTopic: Wore wig for too long Posted: January 06 2006 at 9:00am
I have been wearing a wig since October and I have received many compliments about how good it looks. Unfortunately it has reaked havoc on the front and edges of my hair and it is really thin now. I am going to get it cut tomorrow and need to know what products are good to thicken up the edges?

Hey, lovelyL...Welcome to the forum! I'd recommend the ORS (Organic Root stimulator) temple balm or fertilizer. U can get it at most beauty supply stores. I used it a while back for a small area that I needed to regrow and it worked good. I'm sure some of the other ladies will have other suggestions as well !~gl~
i reccommend getting some rosemary oil (use 15-20 drops) diluted in sweet almond oil(this will stimulate growth). Use that on problem areas 1-2 times a day. Also make sure that you deep condition with the thin, plastic cap and heat for 45-60 mins weekly. To thicken up that area use castor oil or jamaica black castor oil on your hair and scalp as a pre-shampoo treatment- either on your hair w/ a cap at nite and shampoo in the morning or apply it to your hair anr scalp - put the thin plastic cap on and use heat for 15 mins prior to shampooing. Hope this helps a little.

Surge hair revitalizer works very well for some people.
I am currently using it just for increased growth. As a side affect, my hair is growing in in a looser curl pattern than normal. I love my kinky hair, but am appreciative of the added manageability. I mix it with tea tree oil. The ingredient that helps growth is muccopollysaccharides. It's also in nioxin products and I've read that they use them to help heal burn victims.
Essential oils also work well in my experience because they have antifungal properties and they stimulate the scalp.
